Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup → Draft:2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup (move) – The entire article appears to be copied from the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup page with only superficial edits (e.g., changing years and edition numbers). Large portions, including qualification notes and team details, are still specific to 2025 and are not yet confirmed for 2027. Per WP:NOTFUTURE and WP:DRAFTIFY, this article should be moved to Draft space for further cleanup and sourcing until reliable, independent coverage of the 2027 tournament becomes available. Icem4k (talk) 07:22, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
Note: this is an NPP request thus not controversial, however a Draft article was already submitted and declined last year. Can someone advise on dealing with such a request please, ie should Draft:2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup be moved to IP user-space, or elsewhere, and link the AfC template to new draft talk? There is a handful of edits for old Draft for reference. Thanks, CNC (talk) 07:48, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
- Shady Rest Golf and Country Club (currently a redirect to Shady Rest Country Club) → Shady Rest Country Club (move · discuss) – New common name for the club. qcne (talk) 20:34, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- Earle & Fisher (currently a redirect to Stephen C. Earle) → Clellan W. Fisher (move · discuss) – I changed the focus of this former stub from Earle & Fisher, an architectural firm, to one of its principals. It cannot be moved by me since "Clellan W. Fisher" was the original name of the article. JPRiley (talk) 23:58, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service (currently a redirect to NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service) → NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (move · discuss) – Change "&" to "and" per their website. Mitch Ames (talk) 01:47, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
- Winnipeg Monarchs (2025) → Winnipeg Monarchs (move · discuss) – Taking a page from the Winnipeg Jets, the current club should not include parentheses in its title, with appropriate parentheses being used for legacy clubs. PsychoJason (talk) 05:46, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Lohgarh, Zirakpur (currently a redirect to Zirakpur) → Lohgarh (move) – Given related discussion at Talk:Lohgarh (Bilaspur)#Requested move 10 July 2025, should the page history return to its longstanding location? This would revert an undiscussed move of article before it was redirected at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lohgarh, Zirakpur. Or should base page name be retargeted to Zirakpur? Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 04:07, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
- There's no need to move this back to Lohgarh as per the deletion discussion, which resulted in a redirect. No one raised the issue of moving it back. That page literally had 0 pageviews for most of this year and previous years. FujaFula (talk) 18:12, 10 July 2025 (UTC)— FujaFula (talk · contribs) has been blocked as a suspected sock puppet of Rashidpour Rezanejad (talk · contribs).
- I think the best status quo to return to would be move Lohgarh (disambiguation) to Lohgarh, returning to the status quo as of 27 June 2025. The history is a mess, but it looks like Lohgarh previously redirected to the dab page, and was the dab page was moved over the redirect per WP:MALPLACED. Mdewman6 (talk) 21:15, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
- The move history is Lohgarh → Lohgarh, Mohali (00:20, 22 January 2025) → Lohgarh (02:41, 26 January 2025) → Lohgarh, Zirakpur (20:36, 26 June 2025). Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 00:09, 11 July 2025 (UTC)

- Institute of Chartered Accountants of India → The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (currently a redirect back to Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) (move · discuss) – Undiscussed. Even the reason provided for the move is not so accurate. CharlesWain (talk) 13:15, 10 July 2025 (UTC)Fixed to avoid removal by clerking bot. - Does the current title not accord with WP:THE? Graham11 (talk) 02:33, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Graham11, As per WP:THE : "...the default rule is to exclude them unless certain specific conditions are met, usually where they are integral to the article subject's name." The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India always officially uses "The" in the name, ie, it's "integral to the article subject's name"; [1], [2], [3]. - Those are all first-party sources. Graham11 (talk) 05:50, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Graham11, The point was to prove that the institute itself officially uses "The" as an integral part to its name. Check this third-party source also. Thanks. CharlesWain (talk) 06:44, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- The official use probably falls under WP:OFFICIAL. Graham11 (talk) 21:44, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- It's both official and used by third party or secondary sources. CharlesWain (talk) 06:24, 12 July 2025 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
- Fakta Ladh Mhana → Fakt Ladh Mhana (currently a redirect back to Fakta Ladh Mhana) (move · discuss) – name correction 2409:40C0:E:9494:8000:0:0:0 (talk) 19:09, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- This was moved in the other direction by Dharmadhyaksha in 2012, with the rationale "Right spelling". Since neither this request nor that one give any evidence, please could some be provided so that we can determine the actual WP:COMMONNAME in English? Thanks — Amakuru (talk) 21:52, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
- Some English newspaper/websites references using "Fakta" TOI1, TOI2, DNA, TOI3, IMDB, Amazon Prime. More are available and can be submitted if the IP is also submitting any references. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 09:19, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
- It sounds like this is definitely controversial anyway, so an RM should be strated if anyone wishes to proceed. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 10:26, 9 July 2025 (UTC)

- Acetolactone → Α-Lactone (restricted by the titleblacklist, which page movers can override) (move · discuss) – Recently rewrote page to focus on the class of compounds descended from acetolactone, as acetolactone itself probably fails WP:NCHEM. Α-Lactone is blocked because it intermixes Latin and Greek characters, especially a confusing Greek lookalike (capital alpha). But there is precedent for intermixture; see Α-Halo ketone. Also, please {{ping}} me if/when this move is complete. I will need to add {{lowercase}} to the page, and to create A-Lactone as a redirect, but I don't want to do either until the page has moved. Bernanke's Crossbow (talk) 22:56, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
- But the article is still mostly about the specific compound, including the chembox. Regardless, I think this should be discussed, as the change in title is not obviously uncontroversial. Mdewman6 (talk) 23:53, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
- Draft:Beyond Stranger Things → Beyond Stranger Things (currently a redirect instead to Stranger Things#Beyond Stranger Things) (move · discuss) – move the page from draftspace to mainspace Overandoutnerd (talk) 08:05, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
