Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

- Draft:Pookoo → Pookoo (currently a redirect instead to Nathan Greno) (move · discuss) – https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/news/everything-netflix-announced-and-showcased-at-annecy-2025/. It's time. Ele3ctricBloom$ (talk) 14:53, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Ele3ctricBloom$: According to the note at the top of the draft, this "should not be moved to the mainspace until final animation or voice recording has begun". Is there confirmation that this has occurred yet? — Amakuru (talk) 16:14, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
- Draft:Hoppers (film) (currently a redirect to Hoppers (film)) → Hoppers (film) (move · discuss) – https://x.com/Pixar/status/1933507519516680443. It's time. Ele3ctricBloom$ (talk) 14:45, 13 June 2025 (UTC)

- 2025 Premier Volleyball League on Tour → 2025 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference (currently a redirect instead to 2024–25 Premier Volleyball League season#Reinforced Conference) (move · discuss) – Redirect, page should be moved back to the "Reinforced Conference" article (planned for 4Q 2025) with "2025 Premier Volleyball League on Tour" (July–September 2025) created as a redirect of its own with its own fresh history which should start here Hariboneagle927 (talk) 09:54, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- Prljavo kazalište (currently a redirect to Prljavo Kazalište) → Prljavo Kazalište (move · discuss) – Although the current page name is in accordance with Croatian and Serbian orthography when it comes to names of musical groups (which have been abandoned in recent decades by regional music press in favor of English language-style capitalization in band names: [1], [2], [3]), it is not in accordance with WP:BANDNAME; additionally in the band's logo and on their releases, their name is written with capital K:[4] Ostalocutanje (talk) 12:30, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- Sporting C.P. (women) (currently a redirect to Sporting CP (women's football)) → Sporting CP (women) (currently a redirect instead to Sporting CP (women's football)) (move · discuss) – standardization of the title in accordance with the other articles of the club. 44 Gabriel (talk) 21:19, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- Pakistan People's Party → Pakistan Peoples Party (currently a redirect back to Pakistan People's Party) (move · discuss) – Official web site shows party name does not include an apostrophe GoingBatty (talk) 22:15, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- Calcutta Cricket and Football Club → Calcutta CFC (currently a redirect back to Calcutta Cricket and Football Club) (move · discuss) – Proper football name, also sourced, and Genoa CFC's wikiformat has been approved. ইমরান ভূইয়া (talk) 00:39, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- Calcutta Cricket and Football Club → Calcutta CFC (currently a redirect back to Calcutta Cricket and Football Club) (move · discuss) – Wiki Format name, sourced; similar to Geonoa CFC. ইমরান ভূইয়া (talk) 00:47, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- Théophile de Donder (currently a redirect to Théophile De Donder) → Théophile De Donder (move · discuss) – Per Belgian name particle reasons, see recent discussion at WT:BELGIUM. ReyHahn (talk) 07:56, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- Spider-Man: Miles Morales (currently a redirect to Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales) → Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (move · discuss) – Given the recent discussion/consensus established here and the page move for both Marvel's Spider-Man (video game) and Marvel's Spider-Man 2, I do not think it is controversial to request a move for a spin-off game that shares the same naming convention. OceanHok (talk) 11:12, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- Wadi Dawan → Wadi Doan (currently a redirect back to Wadi Dawan) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME per [5] 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 13:11, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- Draft:Eagle Pictures (currently a redirect to Eagle Pictures) → Eagle Pictures (move · discuss) – Moving to mainspace; current article is just a redirect to Spyglass. Mellamelina (talk) 14:00, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- Reima and Raili Pietilä (currently a redirect to Reima Pietilä) → Reima Pietilä (move · discuss) – Current article about two persons should be split into two separate articles. Current page predominantly covers Reima Pietilä Diletantique (talk) 15:32, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- Discussion about the move as requested by two prior users: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Reima_and_Raili_Pietil%C3%A4 Diletantique (talk) 15:43, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- Original 106 (Scotland) → Original 106 (move · discuss) – The present-day Original 106 is a regionally well-established radio station that has existed for almost 18 years, while the other stations listed on the disambiguation page both lasted for 2 years and stopped broadcasting under that name in the late 2000s. UltrasonicMadness (talk) 16:41, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- Business Is Business → Business is business (currently a redirect back to Business Is Business) (move · discuss) – The current configuration is confusing, in my opinion. IMO we should place a disambiguation page at Business is business (the unadorned sentence-case phrase), and all other capitalizations (Business is Business, Business Is Business, Les affaires sont les affaires) should redirect to that dab page. Instead, we currently have the dab page at Business Is Business; plus, we currently have Business Is Business (disambiguation), which can be deleted now IMO. I was able to do some of these moves/redirects myself, but got stuck here. Quuxplusone (talk) 17:08, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
Contested technical requests
- Peter Dvorsky (actor) → Peter Dvorsky (move · discuss) – There's no need for the extra disambiguation as there's no other article for a subject titled "Peter Dvorsky" on Wikipedia. Luis7M (talk) 14:09, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- The page currently points to Peter Dvorský. We wouldn't usually use WP:SMALLDETAILS on a name without diacritics to differentiate from the name with diacritics. I'd suggest this shouldn't be moved, although probably it should be a disambiguation page. — Amakuru (talk) 16:13, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- Munírih → Munírih Khánum (currently a redirect back to Munírih) (move · discuss) – Reverting an undiscussed move (WP:RMUM) while preserving the diacritical mark to match similar pages; the original move also violated WP:CONSISTENT (e.g. Ásíyih Khánum, Bahíyyih Khánum, Rúhíyyih Khánum) Keivan.fTalk 01:34, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
- Contesting. First of all, the "undiscussed move" was in 2018, so well beyond the scope of WP:RMUM. Secondly, the move was made with the rationale that Khanum is an honorific which should not be included in the title which seems legitimate here. — Amakuru (talk) 07:29, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- An undiscussed move is an undiscussed move, no matter when it was made. A user's personal opinion does not triumph policies as WP:CONSISTENT has been violated. The page should be moved back to its original title and then you can have a discussion on whether you want to drop honorifics on this page and all the other pages that I mentioned, including not only female but male figures such as Shoghi Effendi, since Effendi is also an honorific. The double standard here is intolerable. Keivan.fTalk 11:55, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- "An undiscussed move is an undiscussed move, no matter when it was made" - that's not what the policy at WP:TITLECHANGES says. "If an article title has been stable for a long time, and there is no good reason to change it, it should not be changed". This is certainly controversial, and therefore should be discussed first. Consistency is one of the things to look for when determining an article title, but it certainly doesn't trump all other considerations. There seems to be a good case for removing the honorifics from the other titles you mention anyway. — Amakuru (talk) 16:18, 16 June 2025 (UTC)

- @Kailash29792 Please see the objection by BusterD. GTrang (talk) 15:30, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
- If the RfD for War 2 is closed as keep, then this move should be completed. Otherwise, the draft should be moved to Draft:War 2 (film) instead. GTrang (talk) 00:56, 14 June 2025 (UTC)

- George Washington University → The George Washington University (currently a redirect back to George Washington University) (move · discuss) – Per WP:THE; "The" is part of the university's official name. Cyrobyte (talk) 00:22, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
- Due to failed RM discussions like Talk:Ohio State University#Requested move 7 May 2025, I believe applying WP:THE to articles on American college and universities is controversial and should also go under a regular RM discussion. Zzyzx11 (talk) 11:55, 14 June 2025 (UTC)

- Can someone help here? A couple of days ago, I requested here that Arari River be moved to Arari River (Pará), because there is a river of the same name in Amazonas. Since then, some people and bots are moving the article around in some really weird ways. LeRoc (talk) 20:46, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- @LeRoc: Some users objected to the move you requested (in the replies to your request and via a request to revert it), so I reverted it. The disambiguation page that you created is now at Draft:Arari River (disambiguation). If it were in mainspace, it would be eligible for speedy deletion under criterion WP:G14. We only disambiguate pages when there are other topics covered in a Wikipedia article, and there is no article covering Arari River (Amazonas). ~ Jenson ( SilverLocust 💬 ) 22:06, 15 June 2025 (UTC)

- Personal ordinariate → Anglican Ordinariates (currently a redirect back to Personal ordinariate) (move · discuss) – current name not accurate due to other personal ordinariates existing outside the scope of these personal ordinariates MysticKnight (talk) 19:41, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
- @MysticKnight: Do you have an example of another personal ordinariate? (Not to be confused with a personal prelature.) ~ Jenson ( SilverLocust 💬 ) 20:13, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- According to the Apostolic Constitution Spirituali militium curae (which established the Military Ordinariates) IV, Section 1, Military Ordinariates are personal. True, these do not have the name "Personal" affixed to their names, but they are in fact personal ordinariates, because the power of the Ordinary is personal rather than territorial. In fact, the Apostolic Constitution, Anglicanorum Coetibus, which established the Anglican Ordinariates, cites the formerly mentioned Apostolic Constitution in defining the power of the Anglican Ordinariates. Since the official name is Personal Ordinariates for former Anglicans, and there are other personal ordinariates, "Anglican Ordinariates" appears to be the best short-hand for the title of the article. MysticKnight (talk) 21:53, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- @MysticKnight: If this were to be moved, it should still be lowercase and singular ("ordinariate") like military ordinariate per the MOS:CAPS and WP:SINGULAR conventions. In any event, I think it is fairly likely that people will have different views on the title, particularly regarding what the common name is or whether the current name already refers primarily to this topic. To continue with the request, please open a discussion for this by clicking the "discuss" link in your request. ~ Jenson (SilverLocust 💬) 00:43, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
