"Me & U" is a song by American singer Cassie.

Background

In 2005, producer Ryan Leslie met Cassie at New York's Marquee and took her on as a casual music project. Leslie recorded and produced "Me & U" himself with keyboards and a Mac in the living room of his apartment in Harlem.

Composition

The Washington Post describes Cassie vocals as "Janet-Jackson-after-20-flights-of-stairs thin".

Release and promotion

To promote Cassie and the song, Leslie developed a campaign on the social networking service Myspace. In November 2005, Leslie shared "Me & U" on the site and within three weeks 60,000 users had made it their Myspace background music.
