Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Tiggerjay (talk | contribs) at 15:42, 20 February 2025 (Handled 1 request: Removed Shire Inda Slasse as already done (via script)). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

This university official website homepage also says Khulna Medical University is the common name.[2]
This page has been moved at least three times in the last 45 days, so this is clearly not uncontentious, please start a full RM discussion. TiggerJay(talk) 16:45, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Hemant Dabral Agree that the corrent title is incorrect. However, this article has been moved back and forth between 2018 Assam local elections and 2018 Assam panchayat election several times. An RM should be held to determine which of these two titles is correct. Bensci54 (talk) 18:03, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Since this was previously moved, and has been stable at this name for more than a year, this should require a full RM discussion and would not qualify as uncontroversial or uncontested. TiggerJay(talk) 05:00, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What reliable sources do you have to support this name change? Current citation seem to support the current article title. See WP:NAMECHANGE for related information. TiggerJay(talk) 04:06, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Jonny2x4 We use what reliable sources use, not offical names. Most, if not all, refs in article use current capitalization, any particular reason/source to change it? ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 16:31, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. Not uncontroversial — here is a screenshot of the film's title in the opening credits and here is its Variety review. "I Vitelloni" is this film's title in the English-speaking world. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 20:46, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
But the title is in Italian and the above rules apply on Wikipedia. Your argument is totally irrelevant. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 22:55, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This matter had been already submitted in July 2010 at Talk:I Vitelloni#Move, with not a single "support" vote. Thus, it obviously cannot be presented as an "uncontroversial technical request" and requires a full follow-up discussion for historical record. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 23:47, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It’s been 15 years. If I hadn’t been prevented by the system I would have moved the page by myself and only if contested I would have opened a discussion. I think I’m gonna have to do it seeing your stubbornness. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 10:56, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@IvanScrooge98 Unfortunately, no. This one has an RM from 2010 so it is not a valid TR. A new RM would be required. Bensci54 (talk) 13:39, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Rebochan Contested as recent activity shows there is controversy - after the related move is closed it may be possible to move this, but even then a discussion might be a good idea. ASUKITE 15:06, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
