The statement that the Arnold piece was only used for the current radio programme is incorrect. I remember it well on TV in the 1980s.

More Theme Music?

I have a vague memory that for a brief while the first few bars of the 4th movement from Janacek's Sinfonietta were used as an introduction for the TV series, although I am aware that this music was also the introductory music for the whole of the "Crown Court" series.
