Mobile protection

How do I protect a page on mobile. Sw3aty G4mer (talk) 12:58, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sw3aty G4mer: this is the talk page for discussing improvements to the page Wikipedia:Administrators' guide. Apart from that, requests for increases to a page's protection level should be made at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 09:04, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Blocking

In the administrators' guide on blocking and filling in the blocking form, it states:

"Block account creation: stops the user from creating a new account for 24 hours after the block is made – this typically should be left ticked."

"Autoblock any IP addresses used blocks all IP addresses the editor may use in the future whilst blocked. Autoblocks last for 24 hours, except in the case of dynamic IP pools such as those used by residential ISPs – this typically should be left ticked.

Is this information correct? Is an editor who is blocked able to create a new account or edit as an IP after 24 hours has expired, or are these restrictions indefinite? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:46, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Cwmhiraeth: Except in the case where a user is, say, softblocked for using a well-known name (in which case the box would be deticked anyway), it would still not be permitted for the blocked user to make a new account and edit with it. However, the 24 hours bit is a compromise between discouraging them from immediately seeing it and making a new account against a major increase in collateral damage in the future. Protect Button not showing

How Come the protect button is not showing, is this a glitch? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kernel123 (talkcontribs) 16:24, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Kernel123 You are not an administrator here or on any other Wikimedia projects. Only administrators can protect pages. Sam Walton (talk) 23:16, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Change the sentence about the purpose of hidden filters to:

Hidden filters are private to make it harder for abusive users to learn how to circumvent them, and thus their contents should not be shared publicly. Faster than Thunder (talk | contributions) 16:10, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Henry Cavill personal life

Henry Cavill personal life specifically his relationship with Natalie Viscuso is being vandalised daily. How can we prevent this from happening? thank you in advance Llyrianska (talk) 14:13, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Llyrianska: this is not the right place; please file a request at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Wikiacc () 19:25, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
