Agenda and Notes from Meeting

1. Introduction to meet up by organisers (if there are any newbies joining us)

2. Round table for participants to say what you’re working on

Also supported an Australian editor with work on Draft:Forestry Building, Hobart. Made major improvements to Haast, New Zealand. Also prepared Draft:Simon Keller about a professor and head of department at Victoria University. Helped with some preparatory work for the forthcoming West Coast Wikipedian at Large project being led by Giantflightlessbirds. Also working with Wainuiomartian on further improvements to articles about Wellington Harbour and the port.
  • Ambrosia10 - had meeting with Auckland museum folk this week notes can be found here, is working on Women Genera project, Hidden Figures CURE Wikidata module, Wikidata WikiProject Research expeditions, a presentation to the Entomology Collections Network annual conference, and a keynote to the Australian Citizen Science conference.
  • Einebillion (talk) has been settling back in after attending Wikimania and a week's holiday in Singapore. Has been doing a little bit of Alexander Turnbull Library mix'n'match and committee work.
  • Stitchbird2 (talk) is recovering from an amazing Wikimania Singapore 2023. Co-presented a talk at Wikimania with Avocadobabygirl, wrote up my conference notes on this page https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2023_WANZ, and made over 200 iNat observations whilst in Singapore (all photos CC BY of course). Need to write up our report for WANZ (who funded Lucy and I go to to Wikimania) & also Te Papa (who supported this as a work trip).
  • Noracrentiss watched Wikimania remotely and felt included as she could often see other New Zealanders. Also asked a copyright question which Einebillion answered. Website: PublicArt.NZ - goal is a research initiative. Discussed art, copyright and conceptual art etc. Great goal but worried about website infringing copyright by taking photos of art. Suggested we invite website researcher to the next meeting - action point for Einebillion. Noracrentiss wants help with NZ thesis work.
  • Quilt Phase in Rarotonga, took photos and added them to Wikicommons. Country celebrating 200 yr anniversary, holiday and photos which have been uploaded into Wikicommons. Also wanted to find a mugshot of Donald Trump - he managed to find the least worst image of the mugshot - to upload into Wikicommons to fair use - but also discussions around this exception.
  • B'art homme - has been away but has been improving "art intervention" article and wants to find some geographical examples. Also got part way through a draft about the arts coop. Mentions Shelly Bay news, has been involved arts collective in Shelley Bay is good.
  • Jon - good article reviews and also working on musical instruments articles. Got through the good article review for the Matiu / Somes Island review. Also had some of his articles reviewed and up to good article statements. Has disagreement with another editor piccolo clarinet - citation.

3. Progress on Action Points and future events

Don't forget to add your program to the Campaign Dashboard. The Dashboard is a key tracking tool for reporting back to Wikimedia Foundation and will help us ensure that we get funding in future years. If you are unsure how to add programs to the Campaign dashboard contact: Ambrosia10 (talk) on her talk page.
  • New Zealand Wikidata Thesis Project aims to get New Zealand dissertations into Wikidata. Project Page, Project Dashboard. There is a google spreadsheet of theses authors with Wikipedia pages who need their theses adding to their page if folk want to work on this during #1Lib1Ref. There is also a video on how to add thesis to people's pages. This work is ongoing and could use more editors to help out.
Project Contacts: DrThneed, Giantflightlessbirds and Ambrosia10
  • Parliamentary Library The library has had it's Wikipedia guidance for staff approved. They are in the process of developing their project. Possible workshop and training might eventuate. Pakoire
