created the article to fill in the missing interface type

not sure if this is a suitable article title, but clearly there was a gap, as it is insufficiently precise to call this type of application "MDI". If there is a more formal name that applies to this increasinly common style of interface (other than "IDE-style") please update the article accordingly. dr.ef.tymac 20:15, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Few google hits...

This term "IDE-style interface" has almost no hits on google. This article needs a better name, but I can't really think of anything better to call it. Timbatron 17:42, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps it should be merged with the main article.dr.ef.tymac 18:26, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea, I agree Timbatron 17:31, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think this article should remain separate since it is describing a particular user interface used by many software applications today. From that perspective, I don't think it fits in the main IDE article anymore. The article text suggests that IDE-style interface is an decedent or superset of Multiple Document Interface (MDI). If a merger is in order, we could consider merging it into that article. --Janus657 19:54, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
