01:19:14, 28 April 2021 review of submission by Wbadawy

Wbadawy (talk) 01:19, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

why my post is declined

@Wbadawy: this is because Wikipedia is not the place to advertise your event WP:WHATNOT. TedX events are generally not notable, just like the majority of their presenters. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 01:26, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

07:55:23, 28 April 2021 review of submission by Coldmanviktor

I'm writing here because of wondering why my article submission was declined and how can I fix it.

Can you please specify the places in the article that should to be fix for making publication real? I've already delete the links which have wrong format. Now I want to know which specific places need to be changed to make the text more neutral and not looking like a promotion - can you tag places in the text?

07:57:48, 28 April 2021 review of submission by Tecoinguamofficial

I am trying to create a page for the Consul General/Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Guam. Mr. Paul Yin-Lien Chen is a public figure/diplomat for Taiwan (R.O.C.) recognized by the State Department of the United States. He is also the first Consul General/Director General for this mission on Guam since the office's re-open in October 2020 after 3 years of temporary close. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Guam was originally established in 1991. I believe this article should not be declined at the Articles for Creation. Unless there's a mistake in category. Please advise. Thank you! Tecoinguamofficial (talk) 07:57, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

08:34:58, 28 April 2021 review of draft by Schwartz Jeremy

Hello, you can help and point out errors in the article, since I'm a newbie as an author of Wikipedia, and this is my own world with its own rules. I would be glad for any help. Schwartz Jeremy (talk) 08:34, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Schwartz Jeremy Wikipedia is not a place for people to tell the world about themselves. While not forbidden, autobiographical articles are strongly discouraged, as people naturally write favorably about themselves. Please see the autobiography policy. It is very rare for someone to successfully write an autobiographical article, I personally have never seen it done, though it has happened.
Please review the advice given by the reviewer. Any article about you should only summarize what independent reliable sources say about you, you need to set aside everything you know about yourself. 331dot (talk) 09:22, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Unsourced personal credits will have to go, as well as personal life details that are not directly attested to in secondary sources. The early life section appears to just link directly to university homepages that do not mention the subject. Also the "Exploring" section in particular is entirely undue and unsourced. Please be aware that Wikipedia is not a venue for life stories or personal achievements, and writing from this perspective will result in content being declined per WP:SOAPBOX and other relevant guidelines. As pointed out, writing about yourself is highly discouraged in the first place - although there may be enough sources to qualify notability for an article in some form, here, so you might have more luck than some if you stick rigidly to what they say. 11:33:06, 28 April 2021 review of draft by Mailteena

Hi, My submission for article was declined because it was not "supported by reliable sources". The sources I have used are the websites of reputed universities in Kerala, newspapers sites etc. from India. So I am not sure what more can be done. This is a notable person from a small state in India, so there will not be too many secondary sources that would be writing about her. However, she is well-known among academic circles and in the pubic sphere. There are many articles written by her published in prominent research journals and newspapers from India. However since these are not considered as reliable sources, the next option is only websites of colleges and universities in India, and articles in online and offline newspapers that mention her and quotes her, which I have added/used including, The Hindu, The Deccan Chronicle, The Newsminute. I feel that this is a problem with location, where only known "western/european university sites" is seen as reliable sources. Please leave a note as to what else can be done regarding this. Mailteena (talk) 11:33, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mailteena The publishers may be reliable sources, but the individual stories are not. 331dot (talk) 11:58, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 13:32:39, 28 April 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Chiara Milani

I want to know if I have to search more sources about the company, it's a publicly traded corporations and i supposed it was enough to be published. However, I will chance "solution" inside the article, using other words.

Chiara Milani (talk) 13:32, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes more independent reliable sources are needed and a complete re-write, it reads like an advertisement at the moment, not a neutral encyclopaedia article. Theroadislong (talk) 13:35, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

19:33:11, 28 April 2021 review of submission by Loveisthevision

Hello, I have a concern about the most recent Wikipedia page of mine that's been published, called "Lightchild". I realize that the spelling is stylized, but with llghtchlld's film credits, website, and social media, in all of them her name is spelled with all L's, so is it possible to change the title of the page to reflect that as well? This is also because there is another artist named "Lightchild" and we want to keep both artists distinct. Thank you!

Loveisthevision (talk) 19:33, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is technically impossible. The software automatically capitalises the first letter of a given title, so the only way to distinguish the two would be parentheticals. (There is a way to force the title to render in lowercase, but it wouldn't actually affect how the title is in Wikipedia's code.) —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 04:50, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

19:38:24, 28 April 2021 review of draft by 24.228.70.170

This is in reference to this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mint_400_Records

I worked on this page a while back, noticed someone deleted a bunch of the references and citations. The mods said it was "reference bombed", trying to understand how adding references especially to this specific article does not establish the subject as being notable enough? This label is on par with Merge Records, started by an artist, releases up to 70 releases a year, is a staple of college radio, is exclusively represented by Bankrobber Music for sync among other accolades and achievements. I've worked on smaller labels wikipedia pages in the past with less mentions, less references, less notable people attached and this one seems to have people actively trying to prevent it from going live. Looking at a number of indie record labels for instance https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dovecote_Records every reference for this smaller label is mentioned in passing with no direct reference to the actual label, this smaller label as well seems to have few references and no direct mentions -only passing mentions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyeball_Records, this is considered a notable label- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcola . I just have no idea how to structure this article when it seems less notable labels had no issues having their pages go live and this one actually has notable bands and people associated with it, is possibly the first all digital label in the US and puts out a huge amount of music that charts on the NACC charts. Any guidance on what exactly is missing would help because they did have bands in Billboard and other sources but again if you could clarify how exactly they are just mentioned in passing but these other labels are not it would give me a clear idea on how to help restore this page to being live.

24.228.70.170 (talk) 19:38, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please see other stuff exists. Each draft is judged on it's own merits. As this is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can, it is possible for inappropriate articles to get by us. This does not mean that other inappropriate content can be permitted. Standards can also change over time, what was once proper may be no longer. If you want to help out, feel free to identify these other potentially inappropriate articles for action. We can only address what we know about. 331dot (talk) 19:51, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I understand exactly what you are saying but clearly under the scope of Record Labels it states, which I believe this article falls under:

This page is within the scope of WikiProject Record Labels, a collaborative effort to improve the coverage of record labels on Wikipedia. If you would like to participate, please visit the project page, where you can join the discussion and see a list of open tasks. This page does not require a rating on the project's quality scale. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.228.70.170 (talk) 11:33, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't clear what you're trying to say by quoting the {{WikiProject Record Labels}} template on the draft's talk page. WikiProject banners are not an endorsement of the topic. They do not mean that the page should be an article. The banner serves at least three purposes: first, to advertise the project to editors who may be interested in writing about record labels; second, to put pages that may need help on the radar of Wikipedians experienced in the topic area; and third, to put hopeless pages that should be kept out of article space or deleted in the sights of Wikipedians who have the most invested in keeping the topic area unpolluted. --Worldbruce (talk) 14:14, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry English is my second language. What I meant to ask was more if Wikipedia has a special Record Label project that says that they understand that Record labels are not usually directly referenced in articles but are still a worthy contribution to wikipedia, then why are the comments from the admins saying that the article only has "passing mentions". I guess can someone show me an example of the type of article that has to be used for a record label to be declared noteable? Because I posted three that have similar sources to what this article has but then I got the whole "Other Stuff Exists" response. This was approved years ago to be up but got taken down and now they have even more credible sources attached which is why I'm confused. Is this the wrong place to ask these questions? Like is there somewhere else I can talk to people specifically about Record Label Wiki's? (talk) (talk)

21:39:13, 28 April 2021 review of submission by ThePoliticalDebate

I'm not sure why this is not sufficiently notable, especially when this person is of particular note in the Sheffield area and the local elections coming up on May 6th. He is highly likley to win his seat and his wikipedia page would be of significant interest to at least more than 500,000 people in Sheffield!

ThePoliticalDebate (talk) 21:39, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ThePoliticalDebate Politicians seeking office generally do not merit articles, per WP:NPOLITICIAN. If they win, they would. Only very rare exceptions such as Christine O'Donnell merit articles without winning, because they meet the more general WP:BIO. 331dot (talk) 22:06, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This article is notable because it is about a publicly listed company, has many reliable sources and the company is referred to on other Wiki pages. I am just asking for advice as to how to make this page stronger.

Being publicly listed and being referred to on other Wikipedia pages don't help a whit for notability, and your sources appear to fail WP:CORPDEPTH. Routine business news and other forms of "dog bites man" news don't help for notability. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 04:47, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 04:40:29, 29 April 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Manishthapa1981

I have tried my best to furnish all the details of the subject I am contributing but still it is rejected on the ground of "Reliable Sources". What are the parameters to judge your source to be "reliable" or "unreliable" especially in a country when English is not the first language and there are 80 different languages are spoken and written? Thus we will get very few sources written in English. So it is unfair in this context to label credible sources as unreliable sources" when they are the only available news sources in the country.

Manishthapa1981 (talk) 04:40, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We don't care if sources are in English or not, nor if they are online. We only care that they discuss the subject at length, have professional editorial oversight responsible for fact-checking and retractions, and have no direct connexion to the subject or their surrogates. Most of your sources fail one of those three criteria just from skimming the references list. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 04:44, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

11:25:16, 29 April 2021 review of draft by Yourepartofit

Hi, I've been working on compiling a list of New Jersey Record Labels and I'm having trouble understanding why this article keeps getting rejected? I thought this page does not require a rating on the project's quality scale because it falls under the scope of record labels which often times are not mentioned in articles that directly relate to them. If anyone could shed light on what Draft:Mint_400_Records is missing it would be appreciated.

Yourepartofit (talk) 11:25, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yourepartofit The reason for the rejection was given by the reviewers- that you have not provided independent reliable sources with significant coverage of the label, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. The quality scale is not relevant to that- a low quality article may be accepted as long as the sources are adequate. 331dot (talk) 15:07, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Delbarital (talk) 23:02, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on an article for Next Insurance. Last time, when the article was submitted for review it was rejected for notability. Since then I added many more references, yet I'm afraid it will be rejected again for the same reason. I wonder whether it makes sense to submit the article as a short stub for now instead of a full article. Thanks.

Delbarital, the sourcing is improving, and the article seems decently notable, so it doesn’t make sense to make it a short stub (that would recreate the original problem). Eternal Shadow Talk 23:55, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jogdnderrautela Wikipedia does not have "profiles", not a single one. Wikipedia has articles. Those articles summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage state. The sources you have offered do not have significant coverage of you. Please review the autobiography policy to learn why writing about yourself is not advisable. Please also read about how an article about yourself is not necessarily a good thing. 331dot (talk) 12:11, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

hello, I just saw that my article was declined.

The reason is blank page and it looks as a test. When I clicked on edit my article it really is blank! I remember when I clicked submit I wasn’t sure what happened I then had to click again. Fortunately I made screen grabs just before. Can I use an older version of my draft and use it to edit and then eventually submit my article? I’ll make sure I follow the instructions very carefully. Or ask for help when I’m ready to submit again. Thank you very much

Cocouture (talk) 17:51, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Cocouture: Hello and Welcome to the AFC help desk. For some reason you deleted all the text with these two changes. If so, don't worry, I have restored the draft content using the page history. If you want to submit it again, you can do so by placing {{subst:submit}} (as it appears when viewing this page) at the top, without overwriting the content of the edit box. I'm not sure why my article was declined. It is a factual, descriptive article about the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience, not an article about the history of the Southern Jewish experience, which would require citations, scholarly contributions, historiography, etc.

Willie Sklar (talk) 23:46, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Willie Sklar The draft is completely unsourced. Wikipedia articles must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about an organization, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable organization. Wikipedia is not a place to merely tell about something. Please read Your first article. I gather that you are associated with the museum in some way. Please review conflict of interest and paid editing for information on required formal disclosures. 331dot (talk) 00:03, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks.I have included 6 references, all of them reliable (the Guardian, the University of Warwick, Duke University Press, AHRC, a PDF of a document). I believe that 6 references are quite a good number for such a short entry. You can ask professor Stephen Gundle himslef: he will confirm that everything that is written there is true. Anyway, if you want me to include extra references I will be probably able to do it (with some effort). Please, specify how many, thanks.2.30.2.222 (talk) 11:25, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@2.30.2.222: One for each and every claim that could potentially be challenged. We are not interested in a rerun of the Seigenthaler incident. Every biographical claim that could potentially be challenged for any reason what-so-ever MUST be cited to a strong third-party source that corroborates it or, if no such source(s) can be found, removed wholesale. This is a hard requirement when writing biographical content on Wikipedia and is not negotiable.A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 14:01, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to contribute more to Wikipedia, so I've chosen to start pages about books I've read that don't already have pages. Three things confuse me. 1. Consistency. Are there rules for which books deserve to have Wikipedia pages and which ones don't? Are the rules applied consistently? If not, why not? How can I know which rules apply to a book I would like to add? 2. Noteworthiness. What makes a book worthy of having a Wikipedia page? Why would we want to exclude any book from Wikipedia? 3. References. When a Wikipedia contributor writes a summary of a book's content, such as plot and characters in the case of a novel, what kind of references are required? Reviews of books don't always summarize a book's content. Peter Jedicke (talk) 20:05, 2 May 2021 (UTC) Peter Jedicke (talk) 20:05, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have written an article about a major campaign that has been covered extensively by a large number of news outlets, including some mentioning the campaign by name directly. Despite this, the reviewer of the article has claimed that it doesn't have enough coverage to warrant its own article. The reviewer has also claimed that use of the Campaign's own material as a source on its manifesto is inappropriate. How can you not cite an organisation's own manifesto when writing about it directly. I would like help in improving this article so it meets the necessary criteria, as I don't understand why it has been rejected so far. A campaign that has had national media coverage and has made historic achievements is definitely important enough to be in an article.

I recognise that as I have ties to the campaign, there is a conflict of interest in me writing this article, but I have attempted to word as unbiased as possible. If I could have help in rewording to prevent it being struck down on those grounds again, that would be great RB2345 (talk) 09:47, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@RB2345 A reviewer's role is to push a draft back for further work if they believe that it does not have a better than 50% chance of surviving an immediate deletion process as an article. This they have done. You should have a conversation with them about their reasons. While this is a draft your COI is in a protected space., and you may edit with no concerns.
While this is a current campaign it feels as if this is a campaign document. Please read Wikipedia:NOTSOAPBOX for some background FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 12:14, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was hoping that you could provide further feedback on how I can improve this article to reach a publishable standard. I believe that I have cited many reputable sources but perhaps I have relied too heavily on information from a website affiliated with the subject. Please let me know how I should proceed. Thank you.

108.14.83.30 (talk) 15:22, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft is confused. Either write the subject;s biography or wrote about their business, but not about both isn one article. There is a different standard of rec]ferencig or each:
  • For a living person we have a high standard of referencing. Every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is susceptible to potential challenge, requires a citation with a reference that is about them, and is independent of them, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS, and is significant coverage. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact cited, that meet these tough criteria is likely to make this draft a clear acceptance (0.9 probability). Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the person is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today.
alternatively,
  • We require references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS please. See WP:42. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today.
Make your decision and revise your draft accordingly, please, using stellar referencing for either. Note that one may be notable whereas the other may not. FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 15:28, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am hoping to get some clarification as to what counts as a reliable source within this article. I understand that editorial commentary is not usually considered reliable or verifiable, but is a major Italian newspaper? Bookforum? The Community of Literary Magazines and Presses?

FireGrass1 (talk) 18:38, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@FireGrass1 Reliable sources are not article specific, nor are they confined to one language. Wikipedia:Reliable sources should be your universal guide FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 18:51, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, yes, I understand that---but any help on whether any of the draft is salvageable would be appreciated, as I believe some sources are reliable and some are not, but I truly have not been able to figure out which, even looking at the reliable sources page.

Hi, My page Rise.ai was declined for being advertising, I thought to take out those lines:

  • In 2019, The company changed its name to Rise.ai and handled more than $1 billion in store credit for its worldwide customers.
  • Rise.ai manages electronic gift cards and loyalty programs for online stores from over 80 countries, including Kroger, Pepsico, Allbirds and Milk Bar.

do you think it would have a better chance to be excepted.

What can I do to improve the AOZ_Studio draft article for approval?

What kind of references do I need to show "significant coverage"? (I've seen many articles with less references which were approved.)

Since AOZ Studio is new, coverage is harder to come by, but predecessors to the language have been widely covered. (AOZ Studio is based on AMOS Professional, and is also related to STOS - the predecessor of AMOS.) Would references to these related languages be helpful?

Would references to the developers of AOZ Studio be helpful? For example: The AOZ BASIC language was designed by Francois Lionet, a prominent software developer of many popular programs, including other programming languages/packages (STOS, AMOS, Click & Play, etc., as well as AOZ Studio). Would references to Francois help as references for AOZ Studio (which he also developed)?

Likewise, Laurant Weill (also one of the founders of AOZ Studio), is a prominent figure in the French software industry. He created Loricel (the first Video Game company in France), among others. Would references to him help?

Ising4jesus (talk) 14:18, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ising4jesus Please see other stuff exists. That other inappropriate content exists does not mean that yours can too. We can only address what we know about; it is possible to get inappropriate content by us. Your draft has two sources, I'd be very interested to know which drafts were approved by a reviewer with fewer references. Note that it is possible for an editor to directly create an article without going through this process(though we strongly advise against it); this does not mean it has been "approved". 331dot (talk) 14:24, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
