00:19:55, 12 March 2021 review of submission by Pogerina
This was rejected but I don't know why. Please help! It said something about putting references in footnotes but I did not know I had any 'references'. Pogerina (talk) 00:19, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Pogerina. You have to tell the reader where every piece of information in the draft came from. Do so by citing sources (also known as references). Help:Referencing for beginners is a simplified introduction to the mechanics.
- Sources should be published, reliable sources. Reliable has a distinctive meaning on Wikipedia. Many sources you might think are trustworthy, such as Discogs, IMDb, and YouTube, generally are not reliable as far as Wikipedia is concerned. Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources contains a list of sources Wikipedians have found useful when writing about music.
- Furthermore, the bulk of the draft should come from independent, secondary sources, so not Rietveld (including primary source interviews of him without independent analysis), nor his label, nor others who have an interest in promoting him. The best sources will also contain significant coverage (at least a few paragraphs) about him. Try to find at least three reliable, independent, secondary sources, that contain significant coverage of him.
- As an example, for the statement, "Rietveld joined Miles Davis's band for his 1988 World Tour", I've added a citation to an independent, reliable source (a book written by a notable music writer). Add citations for everything in the biography and awards sections. It is not important to have citations in the discography and filmography sections if the credits of the albums and films themselves support the listing. --Worldbruce (talk) 07:03, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

19:36:17, 12 March 2021 review of draft by MuddySloth
- MuddySloth (talk · contribs) (TB)
Just had an article rejected, I wanted to see what was wrong. it says "references" but I'm not sure what other references would be needed.
I've included the subject website along with dates. Any assistance on what else is needed would be appreciated, thanks.
MuddySloth (talk) 19:36, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- MuddySloth Your draft is almost entirely sourced to the subject's website- and the two that aren't are just ads for the comics. Wikipedia articles summarize what independent reliable sources state about a topic, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of notability. Wikipedia isn't interested in what a subject(or those associated with it) says about itself, only in what others completely unconnected with the subject have chosen on their own to say about it. 331dot (talk) 19:42, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
How many outside references are needed for a subject to be "notable?" Thank you MuddySloth (talk) 22:39, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- MuddySloth Most reviewers look for at least three independent reliable sources with significant coverage, that the article should summarize. Primary sources do note establish notability. Please ask follow up questions in this existing section, instead of creating new sections. 331dot (talk) 22:55, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- MuddySloth, (edit conflict)It is generally considered that three references of quality will allow a draft to be accepted. However references alone are not the whole thing. Prose has to be flat and neutral too.
-
- We require references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, and in WP:RS please. See WP:42. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain . Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today.
-
- This may be difficult for this topic, so research and choose well Fiddle Faddle 22:58, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

04:55:33, 13 March 2021 review of draft by Randomalphanumericstring
Hi, I wrote and submitted an article ("Pius Wars") for review. Editor "Noah" left a comment yesterday (3/11/21) saying the article didn't look finished but when it was finished he would probably accept it. I finished it today and left a note on the article's talk page saying that it was finished, but I can't figure out how to resubmit, if necessary. Talk page "Noah" looks very complicated and I'm not sure if I should contact him there to tell him the article is now finished, or what. Please advise. Thanks.

22:19:46, 13 March 2021 review of submission by LeaHoz
Hello Scope_Creep and other Reviewers, I attended Ms. Avrish's exhibit years ago and when I looked her up on Wikipedia, all I could find was an entry about a modeling contest ~20 years ago. I attempted to substantiate every. single. claim with publicly sourced articles and entries like national articles from museums, government organizations and media organizations as recommended by Wikipedia, so to call it an "utter mess" is unfair and unreasonable. If you think that some of the comments and statements are not substantiated, isn't okay for you to delete or edit them? It took me a lot of time to write this entry of an unrepresented group of leaders (women, arts, design, Middle East, history, museum, art) on Wikipedia. Your dismissal, I hope, will be reconsidered. I am not being paid for this entry.
LeaHoz (talk) 22:19, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi LeaHoz. The draft is an utter mess, although that's not a particularly constructive comment. It is not the end of the world, either. Let's examine a few random sources to understand the range of problems:
- 1 is a reliable primary source for her having curated an exhibit. When you place an inline citation in the middle of a sentence, you're implying that the source supports the content from the last citation up to that point. In this case, that she was born December 1, 1979, and is an Israel-based multi-disciplinary artist, designer, and curator. The source only supports that she curated an exhibit.
- The first paragraph goes on to say she's a researcher, an academic lecturer, a media lecturer, a businessperson, and a PhD student. The first paragraph of a biography should state the person's noteworthy occupations or activities. For someone significant enough to be in an encyclopedia, that number typically maxes out at about three. For a true polymath, it might be five. To list eight gives the impression that you're trying to promote her, or you haven't examined her life carefully enough to identify what is important, or she's tried many different things without making her mark at anything. Instead of primary sources written by her, the draft needs independent secondary sources written about her.
- 6 Makor Rishon is a reliable source for her being a researcher who has written a master's thesis that dealt with Jewish history in the Arab world. Anyone who has written a master's thesis is by definition a researcher, however, so it isn't clear how useful that label is. It only quotes her briefly, it is not significant coverage of her, so it doesn't help establish notability. Like #1, it doesn't support the other occupations/activities listed since the last group of citations.
- There are other sources listed with it, but all are references to YouTube, which is a generally unreliable source. There's rarely a sound reason to cite something on YouTube. Also, you've uploaded a crop of the photo that appears in this newspaper article. That's okay if you are the photographer, but if you aren't, or didn't mean to disclose your identity, then we have a problem.
- 9 is a dead link. There are techniques for repairing a dead link, but before you do so, ask yourself whether pageantopolis.com is a reliable source. It sounds like the Journal of 100% Reliable Factual Information. If you aren't sure, ask for an opinion at the Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard.
- 10 is a talent agency that represents Avrish. The eight videos linked on their page are primary sources that support that she appeared in eight commercials or programs. The agency has a financial interest in promoting her, so it isn't an independent source, and does nothing to help establish notability. The bulk of any draft should be based on independent, reliable, secondary sources.
- 20 is a list of 1500+ museum exhibits, and is cited for the statement, "The desert buggy was later featured in a major exhibition". There are no relevant hits on the page for "desert", "buggy", or "Avrish", so how does it support the text?
- 31 I'm not sure xnet.ynet.co.il is a reliable source, but in any case it doesn't mention Avrish, so how does it support the statement, "In 2002, Avrish created a photo exhibition of 32 Israeli women athletic champions titled “It’s not just a sport” that was featured the Ramat Gan Museum of Art"?
- It doesn't appear that the draft can be fixed by a little editing. If you decide to pursue the topic, begin again from scratch. Start by identifying WP:THREE sources that are independent, reliable, secondary sources that contain significant coverage of her. If you can't write an acceptable draft from three such sources, the topic is probably hopeless. --Worldbruce (talk) 20:13, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

- Taani1990, I am sorry for your feelings but what is your question? CommanderWaterford (talk) 10:05, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- Taani1990 If you are aware of articles about "fake" or non-notable people, please point them out so they can be addressed, we could use the help. As this is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can, it is possible for inappropriate articles to go undetected, even for years. We can only address what we know about. That inappropriate articles exist does not mean that yours can too. See other stuff exists.
- As for the subject of your draft, many people have attempted to write about them, but none has demonstrated that they meet the Wikipedia definition of a notable person, as shown with significant coverage in independent reliable sources. The sources you have offered are all announcements of routine activities. 331dot (talk) 10:56, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

I'm trying to understand why the news source I referenced (Tulsa World) wasn't considered reliable. There is another "Gary Davis" article that also uses a regional newspaper article as its source:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Lee_Davis https://coloradosun.com/2019/03/04/1997-gary-davis-execution-colorado/
Is there a specific form of accreditation that the Colorado Sun had that Tulsa World did not?
- Courtesy Ping for the Reviewer: @Padavalamkuttanpilla:. I assume that the reviewer wanted to tell you that you need by far more than one source to establish a general notability via WP:BIO and WP:GNG, see also WP:THREE. CommanderWaterford (talk) 10:04, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

- Peks636 Who is "we"? Accounts may not be shared, you must be the only one with access to your account. Your draft is completely unsourced; because of that and the non encyclopedic writing style, the reviewer felt it was a hoax. For someone to merit an article, there must be significant coverage in independent reliable sources that have chosen on their own to write about them, showing how they meet Wikipedia's special definition of a notable person. That he is a white man is not germane to that. 331dot (talk) 11:02, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- Peks636, welcome to AfC Help desk. I think you are talking about Draft:Donald Etheridge Legend of the high seas. Hey there! I'm trying to get a page for producer/song writer Gianluca Buccellati published - I resubmitted the draft over a month ago. Wanted to know if there was anything that I could do to expedite the process a little bit as Luca has a series of releases/cuts that have just come out (Arlo Parks debut album that has his name all over it and went no3 in UK) and are coming out in the next couple months that are going to be major for him (albums and EPs that he has executive produced) - would be great to have his Wiki up so people can reference who he is. We would ideally love to have Wiki as the central place for info on all things Luca. Thanks! (Luca mgmt)

I want to create an page about the animal rights organization Anima International, however the submission was declined because "Lacks unfortunately independent, secondary coverage of the organization itself".
Anima international is an organization with branches in 10 countries with several different local branch names. But it would not be wrong to say Open Cages (UK branch) is Anima International, and visa versa. With the criteria stated above I could create a page for Open Cages, but not Anima International, even tough they are the same in practical terms. I do not wish to create 10 individual pages for each local branch, but one single page for the whole organization. Does this not make more sens, and could i not be permitted to do this?
It's correct that the organization Anima International lacks sources that focus on that organization level, but there is more than plenty off news sources on the local branches (even in the NYT). Just with the local name. Niklasolai (talk) 10:59, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

I have added articles fully dedicated on Sanjana Ganesan. She hosted a number of events like the Indian Super League(ISL), Badminton Premier League(BPL) and, Indian Premier League(IPL), similar to Mayanti Langer. She won ‘Femina Officially Gorgeous’ and even was the Femina Miss India 2014 Pune competition finalist. In 2014, Sanjana participated in the seventh season of MTV Splitsvilla, hosted by Sunny Leone and Nikhil Chinapa. Then how come Mayanti Langer page stays on Wikipedia and not Sanajan Ganesan?? Not sure what is missing for this subject to be considered noteworthy. He was named European Skier of the Year 2019, as shown in one of the references. Is it the number of references or their significance that is considered inadequate? Moravice (talk) 09:11, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Moravice Most reviewers look for at least three reliable sources with significant coverage of the subject. 331dot (talk)

- Jasimriz, This is a live article and has been for many years. You are entitled to edit the live article unless oyu have a conflict of interest, and your draft is not going to be accepted (0.99 probability) because there is a live article. You may also have made the requisite number of edits to move the article to a correct title. I suggest you build consensus for this act using {{Requested move}}

neither the extant article noryour draftareis not particularly useful in thatthey areit is a great listsof unreferenced "stuff". Dear editor, I am employed by Indus Hospital and Health Network in the digital team. As per my management, I have to edit and upload the organization's information on Wikipedia and replace the old content on Indus Hospitals with the new content. The name of the page has been changed to the new name i.e. Indus Hospital and Health Network, however, I am unable to edit the content of the page as per your Wiki's community standards. I want to replace the old content on the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indus_Hospital_and_Health_Network with the new and updated content i.e https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jasimriz/sandbox. Please let me know how can I replace the old content with the new content? I have already uploaded a draft with new content in my account's sandbox link has mentioned above. As per your queries about being paid about editing the content and having a "financial stake", I am an employee of Indus Hospital and Health Network and it is my job description to update the organization's Wikipedia page. Here is the link to our website - https://indushospital.org.pk/ Links to out publications where we have all the information about our organization - https://indushospital.org.pk/annual-report/ or https://indushospital.org.pk/annual-report-2019-20/
Please let me know how I can replace the content on the page Indus Hospital and Health Network Thank you.
- Jasimriz You should make the paid declaration on your user page, not here. The content that you posted in your sandbox is just a promotional text that has no place as a Wikipedia article. I think that you and perhaps your company have a common misunderstanding as to the purpose of Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a place for companies to tell the world about themselves like social media or their own website is. This is an encyclopedia, and as an an encyclopedia Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a subject, showing how it meets (in this case) the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. Wikipedia is not interested in what a company wants to say about itself, only in what others unconnected with the company say about it.
- Because of that, articles do not necessarily state what the company might want them to say- because they can say what they wish about themselves on their own website. Article subjects have no special rights to the article- they actually have less, since they shouldn't make edits themselves. See WP:OWN. Wikipedia has no interest in what your employer has tasked you with doing, we are just here to summarize what independent sources state. If there are specific errors in the article, or specific additions that you feel are needed, and those can be sourced to reliable sources, preferably independent sources, you may propose them on the article talk page, Talk:Indus Hospital and Health Network, in the form of an edit request(click for instructions). 331dot (talk) 08:54, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

17:17:08, 16 March 2021 review of draft by TerryBG
Hi, this draft was reviewed by Kashmorwiki, and declined with the stated reasons of (1) references do not demonstrate significant coverage in reliable independent sources, and (2) NPOV.
Here is a list of 13 articles entirely about Fleming, in reliable independent (and non-interview) sources, plus two books by notable authors which mention Fleming on dozens of pages:
Extended content
|
---|
Articles:
Books:
|
They clearly meet WP:GNG and WP:BASIC.
In terms of the NPOV rationale, I have read through the article carefully again and I personally can spot no instances of NPOV violation, nor any peacock words. The only adjective I see is "aggressively", and that is because all of the reporting on that particular activity used that word and/or described the activity as such in so many words.
Can someone review the list of significant coverage links above, and also review the draft for language and tone and specify what if anything is non-neutral?
Thanks very much for your time.

I am requesting assistance because I am still being told that my article is blatant advertising but I'm not advertising anything! I have followed WP five pillars and I also went off of similar Wikipedia articles already accepted and published such as World Affairs Council of Dallas/Ft-Worth, World Affairs Council of America, World Affairs Council of Arizona. EditorofWorldAffairs (talk) 04:35, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
- EditorofWorldAffairs Note that advertising does not just mean trying to sell something or soliciting customers/attention; on Wikipedia, merely telling about something is considered promotional. Wikipedia is not interested in what any organization wants to say about itself, only in what independent reliable sources have chosen on their own to say about it, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. Some of the articles you mention are themselves problematic- I doubt each individual chapter of your organization merits its own Wikipedia article. Please see other stuff exists; each draft is judged on its own merits.
- You must review the conflict of interest and paid editing policies and make the required formal declaration. 331dot (talk) 11:00, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

I submitted this article after adding more references, but apparently it is still not supported by reliable sources. The references in the article are from the Norwegian Football Federation, VG, Nettavisen and Aftenposten. I don't see how they are not reliable. VG, Nettavisen and Aftenposten are three of the biggest newspapers in Norway. Each of the four matches are also supported by match reports from the Norwegian Football Federation. Which of these references are not reliable? Sørhaug (talk) 11:28, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

- Sørhaug, I used a translator and the sources are indeed giving enough significant coverage to the subject. But I still have some concerns with its relibality as it feels more like a fan blog. Thats why I declined it. Dont worry I will discuss your concerns with a more experienced reviewer and will definetly find a solution. Please wait and dont resubmit now . Hi, this is a follow-up question from the answer provided to me in January as follows; Hi Content4All. There is nothing you can change about the draft that will result in its approval and publication, because the topic is not notable. --Worldbruce (talk) 02:11, 1 January 2021 (UTC) That is, unless more coverage of the topic is found. Zoozaz1 talk 03:49, 1 January 2021 (UTC) No such coverage exists, but of course the usual caveats apply. Walton's Five and Dime wasn't notable in 1945. Twenty-five years and several names later it became notable. --Worldbruce (talk) 04:45, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
My question now, if Dutch Country General Store is not notable, and as you say it could be after many years, I do know they are becoming more notable so ther are additional sources I might be able to add that I did not have back in October when I originally submitted this article, so can I go ahead and update the article with additions and resubmit?

Pkraiker (talk) 22:48, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
I've just added to the list of 2nd party reference, now 15 in total. I feel like a magazine will have to write an article about this before anyone will approve it. When I compare this to other entries listed in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Remote_Music_Performance_Software I honestly feel this is at least as complete as many of the entries. I'll use Lola (software) as an example.
