My dad had a remote control system that used this in the 1990s that functioned exactly the way WIFI smart switches do today. This came up because I was looking for this technology to switch a fire alarm on and off at an industrial company (something you'd rather not have open to hackers on the wifi), but I couldn't find the link. undo
