IBA Pro Bouts
[edit]Sorry in advance if this has been discussed previously, but I'm struggling with what to do about IBA "Pro" bouts. Boxrec considers them separately to normal professional bouts for the most part, but how to handle them on Wikipedia should probably be addressed. I've seen some pages counting them separately like boxrec, adding them to pro records normally, or just ignoring them outright. I have no real opinion on this, just think we should get out ahead of it and say definitively how to handle them. ZenZekey (talk) 00:33, 9 July 2025 (UTC)

Using BARB for PPV buys
[edit]I believe Barb is used for viewership numbers. But I can see on many articles, it is used as a source for PPV buys. Although boxing promoters and handlers don't always announce ppv figures, they are sometimes released. PPV's include replays, and I believe replays are added to the BARB viewing figures, which is different to PPV buys. Some numbers ar extremely inflated. Both of Haye-Bellew fights did less than 1 million buys. Golovkin-Brook did closer to 500k buys, Brook-Spence did less than 300k buys. There are sources other than BARB confirming this. [edit]Currently Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois (disambiguation) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) has a note about is lack of entries. Is the first 2023 match the primary topic (a unification bout), or is the second 2025 match the primary topic (becoming the second only two-time undisputed champ)? If it is neither, then we can just move the disambiguation page to the base location, amd move the 2023 match to say Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois I or Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois (2023) -- 65.93.183.181 (talk) 16:39, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
Dispute at Naoya Inoue
[edit]Hello everyone, there is currently a dispute between @Rocco30 and myself at Talk:Naoya Inoue regarding a couple of historical boxing records Inoue has supposedly broken. MF Boxing
[edit]Im holding discusions about MF boxing at Talk:KSI. The matches are officially exhibition matches but are listed as profesional matches. There a lot of sockpuppets involved and only 1 other person seems to be a real account working on the page. If you guys could, i would like to hear your opinion.
I have often seen people online refer to the MF Boxers as real boxers and use their records on wikipedia as prove of their professional record. Of course i believe this is wrong and it isnt reconized as such by any major record holder or boxing organization. I feel like it discredits the people who go trough the extra effort to get their fights to be pro, even guys like Jake Paul who actually went trough the difficulty of getting all his fights to be professional.
