Wikipedia:Why does this redirect here?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When making redirects, you never want to leave a user guessing, "Why did that redirect here?" If the redirect reason is not inherently obvious, like redirects from plurals, the article should have content about the redirecting topic to give reader an understanding. Redirects are there to help readers find what they're looking for. If a redirect doesn't do this, it's failing.

If you make a redirect and you intend to promptly add content to article that explains why the page redirects there, it can be acceptable. You may really want to consider adding redirect categories to explain the purpose of the redirect to anyone who comes across it in the meantime.
