Rollback makes it easier to revert vandalism. I already have the flag on other wikis, so I’m familiar with how it works. Regards, Jet Pilot (talk) 03:09, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Personally I'd like to see a longer history of need but you've been here for more than the minimum times and most of your edits are undoing Vandalism so I'd guess you've shown a need but I'd prefer not to grant the flag right now but have no objections to another admin reviewing and granting it. In the meantime I'd suggest using twinkle for now. fr33kman 17:31, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Why should it be so hard for someone to get rollback if they want it? It's not a trophy someone needs to work for. It should be given to anybody who has shown they will use it correctly. I understand reluctance if someone is blocked on another wiki, or there is doubt about their good faith or knowledge of Simple English Wikipedia guidelines, but that isn't the case here. In this case I chose not to grant it due to the low number of total edits (ie: less than 250). The user has been around long enough and most edits are anti-vandalism but the total number of edits is too low for my personal taste. That's why I declined but gave the rider that I'd not object if another admin wanted to grant the flag. fr33kman 04:05, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Because rollback can be abused and actually has quite a subtle use case (obvious vandalism, not good faith edits) it can be quite controversial. We do recommend that users who have the permission are both competent to use it correctly and have the usecase to weild it.
It's also not really all that much of a boon over using Twinkle. It's not really that much of an ask to have a decent history of reverting changes before getting the tool that makes it faster. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:18, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, however I do think it's pretty clear that someone like Jet Pilot would use it correctly, as they already have it on English and Spanish Wikipedias. On the other hand, Raayaan, who received rollback above, is blocked on English Wikipedia for competence issues. TagUser (talk) 20:21, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I’m aware that my edit count isn’t very impressive. Personally, I try to focus more on quality than quantity. While I’m not very active here yet, I have no problem waiting until I gain more experience and edits before submitting a new request. Regards, Jet Pilot (talk) 21:49, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@TagUser Sorry for the ping, but I think if someone is blocked on another Wikipedia, it doesn't mean we can object to granting rollback right on Simple-wiki. When a user clearly demonstrates that he is contributing to Simple-wiki with full responsibility and following all guidelines. I think very soon, with some more edits and spending a little more time patrolling RC Jet Pilot, will succeed in getting Rollback right. Bensebgli (Talk) 05:43, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
