[edit]

Great news! WikiProject Latin and Hispanic heritage now covers all French-speaking countries and territories south of the US including Haiti! Feel free to add any Americans who of descendants from this country. Erick (talk) 03:52, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Magiciandude: Hello again! If I spot such articles, I'll be sure to add the WikiProject banner. Averageuntitleduser (talk) 04:38, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Updates

[edit]

This may be a call into the void, but I've made many edits to this WikiProject, so I thought I should note them. Pinging Savvyjack23, who has done a lot of good work pioneering the project (and has used the {{WPHaiti-invite}} template extensively). Most noticeably, the main page has been redesigned. It now has a brief mission statement and call to action and a more visible alerts section. I also reformatted and pruned the "Requested articles" page. For each request I didn't remove, I was able to find a few sigcov sources in Haitian newspapers, the dLOC, or the other standard databases. Hopefully it is more reliable and easier to navigate. I'd encourage any interested editors to use it! I can attest that it at least led me to one of my next writing projects. For a few recommendations, Saint-Soleil, the big bands, Karl Lévêque, and the gynecologist(!) caught my eye but, of course, choose whatever seems interesting. I also reworked the "To do" page. It had many requests for improvements to individual pages, but those requests seem to have stagnated, so I thought a bulleted list of broader tasks might be more effective.

At least for now, this WikiProject seems dormant, but that's okay. I'll at least stick around and watchlist a few project pages, maybe invite other editors I have come across who seem interested in Haiti-related topics. And maybe the next WP:DCWC will attract more activity. Either way, I would always be happy to give advice for or collaborate on any articles. Just send me a ping!
