Information icon Hello, I'm AngryHarpy. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Oracle Application Express have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. AngryHarpytalk 06:34, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. The Bushranger One ping only 07:39, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I do not receive any compensation for the postings and the content is only informational. I completely understand the reason for my block and I will not repeat the kind of edits for which I am blocked. Kindly unblock me and I will only be adding content that would benefit the community and not any promotional messages. I will add the release numbers, feature list, and latest/updated information about the topic. Thanks in advance.

Decline reason:

Declining because -
  1. Apeks is already taken.
  2. With your edit history it still represents Oracle's product.
Please read the Username policy and choose another name. Cabayi (talk) 09:00, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The choice of new username seems to be acceptable. There is no difference between "informational" and "promotional" on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not for merely providing information; Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic. I don't believe you have no connection with Oracle. If you work for Oracle, you are a paid editor, you don't have to be specifically paid for your edits. As you seem to only want to edit about this Oracle product, there are no grounds to lift the block. If you want to edit about topics unrelated to Oracle and its products as a general contributor, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:30, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Sure. I've completely reviewed the purpose of Wikipedia and would not add any content that is not acceptable per wikipedia terms. As a low code enthusiast, I am interested in reviewing and contributing to various low code platforms. Also, I am interested in databases, application development, and cloud services in general. Thanks again.

Decline reason:

As others have expressed, there's serious doubt about your connection to Oracle. As such, you will not be unblocked to write about these subject areas. You are free to make a new unblock request, but you need to exactly, specifically address your connection, and you need to tell us what other subject areas you'd write about instead. Request reason:

I'm not sure am getting it. Do you mean that if am associated with Oracle, I shouldn't be editing or posting in these areas? I thought that all needed is to comply with Wikipedia terms and anyone associated or not can freely contribute. To summarise, anyone who is associated with an organisation shouldn't be editing or contributing about their subject areas although complying with terms not to add in any promotional or advertising stuff. Please correct me otherwise.

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You need to review conflict of interest and paid editing and make the required formal declaration; if you are an Oracle employee or otherwise compensated by Oracle, you are a paid editor and the Wikipedia Terms of use require that to be disclosed. You don't have to be specifically paid for your specific edits. If you have a conflict of interest, you should not edit articles related to your conflict of interest directly, instead making edit requests, detailing changes you feel are needed, sourced to independent reliable sources. Now that you are blocked, you won't be permitted to make conflict of interest-related edits in the short term; you may later be permitted to make edit requests if you are interested in being a general contributor and develop a good edit history showing you understand Wikipedia guidelines. 331dot (talk) 12:47, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
