Christopher Evan Longhurst 2014

Christopher Evan Longhurst (born 1968) is a New Zealand comparativist and interfaith theologian, aesthete,[1] author, advocate, and activist.[2]

Career

Longhurst has degrees from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), Rome, Italy.[3] He served as a member of the Vatican Museums' Artistic and Scientific Sector and as an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco.[3] He is a Fellow of the International Dialogue Centre KAICIID.[4]

Church-based abuse

Longhurst has been involved in the assessment of church-based abuse and has been called "one of the most fervent and vocal critics of the responses to abuse from Catholic and other church leaders."[5] Longhurst was a core participant in the New Zealand Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry.[6] He is the founding leader of the New Zealand chapter of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP Aotearoa New Zealand).[2][7]
