Hutton is a recipient of two Kerala State Film Awards for Manjummel Boys [1][4]and has been nominated for Filmfare Awards in multiple languages for his sound design work [1] [4]
Career
[edit]Hutton began his career in the 2010s, working as a sound editor and designer on Indian films across different industries. In the Malayalam film industry, he was part of the sound teams for several notable films before expanding his work to Bollywood projects. He collaborated frequently with sound designer Abhishek Nair on major productions [2]. One of Hutton’s early significant projects was Jagga Jasoos (2017), a Hindi musical adventure directed by Anurag Basu. Hutton co-designed the sound for Jagga Jasoos alongside Abhishek Nair, and their work earned the Best Sound Effects honor at the 2018 Power Brands-Bollywood Film Journalists Awards (BFJA) [5].
Continuing his work in Bollywood, Hutton served as a sound designer on Basu’s ensemble comedy Ludo (film) . The film’s soundtrack and sound design received acclaim, and Hutton (with Abhishek Nair) was nominated for Best Sound Design at the 66th Filmfare Awards for Ludo [2] . Around the same time, Hutton also worked in Marathi cinema as the sound designer for Baba. His sound design in Baba earned him a nomination for Best Sound Design at the Filmfare Awards Marathi 2020 [3].
Hutton has remained active in Malayalam cinema as well. In 2024, he was the supervising sound editor and sound designer for Manjummel Boys, a Malayalam-language survival thriller directed by Chidambaram S. Poduval. The film was both a critical and commercial success, noted for its technical excellence in areas like cinematography, production design, and sound [6]. At the 55th Kerala State Film Awards announced in 2025, Manjummel Boys emerged as the biggest winner with ten awards, and Hutton’s work on the film’s audio was doubly recognized. He won the Best Sound Design (shared with Abhishek Nair) and Best Sound Mixing (shared with Fazal A. Backer) for Manjummel Boys [7] [1] [4].
