(2) If the Cape Verde government wants people to call the country "Cabo Verde" when speaking English, of course they can expect us to pronounce it in English, just as we pronounce "Portugal" and "Côte d'Ivoire" using English phonology, instead of switching to Portuguese and French accents when we arrive at those names.) • diffhist Cape Verde 14:12 −151 TenIslands talk contribs (The request from the Government was “the name should not be translated”. Therefore, the name in Portuguese must be pronounced in Portuguese, and not in made-up pronunciations. Check the analogous examples of Türkiye and Côte d'Ivoire, where there is no made-up English pronunciation.) Tag: Reverted
