Punk was less successful in the US than the UK in the 1970s so there was the idea of replacing punk with new wave in the US which is what Seymour Stein was doing with his acts while in the UK, new wave co-existed with punk since punk was actually a successful genre in the UK.) - diffhist New wave music 20:25 0 Bryan1518 talk contribs (Blondie, an American band, released their first album in late of 1976. At that time, UK new wave bands probably existed but they haven't released any albums yet. Punk rock was just getting started in the UK then. The Clash and Sex Pistols would released their albums the year later in 1977. The Ramones debut album came out 8 months before Blondie first album, almost a year, this makes new wave forming in the US first before it got into the UK.) Tag: Reverted

- diffhist New wave music 20:05 +82 Bryan1518 talk contribs (New wave was less rooted in punk in the UK compared to the US. It's connection to punk in the US was more noticeable especially since UK punk was more successful than US punk in the 70s, so there was a need in the US to change punk with new wave while in the UK, new wave was able to co-exist with punk since punk was already a successful genre in in the UK by the late 1970s.)
