  • The administrator toolset is a senior-level user permission. It isn't given to new, novice, established, proficient, or even some experienced editors on Wikipedia. Candidates who successfully become administrators have usually made many thousands of edits to articles and pages, have a long tenure and history on the project and with housekeeping tasks, are well-known and trusted by the community, can demonstrate a very high level of knowledge of Wikipedia policies and processes (such as how Wikipedia handles deletions, copyright violations, content disputes, and other violations of important policies), and can show that they are a good fit for the role can exercise sound judgment in many different complex situations.

  • Please review Wikipedia's overview page on Wikipedia Administrators, as well as Wikipedia's Guide to requests for adminship and Advice for RfA candidates pages before proceeding with a nomination.

  • Applications from editors without considerable levels of experience are usually closed as premature and very quickly. If you are unsure if an RfA nomination is reasonable, you can ask an administrator or an established user for input and advice. There are also some experienced editors who are willing to consider nominating potential candidates that you can reach out to as well.
