Secrets of a Wallaby Boy is a 2023 comedy film. It was written and directed by Kieron Moore and stars Brandon McCaffrey, Billie Hindle, Colin Baker, Mark Benton, and Laurence R. Harvey. It received a digital release on 28 October 2024.[1]

Plot

When Tim Coaster becomes a courier for the app Wallaby, he reckons he can turn his life around: get fit, earn some money, and even get laid. He's not accounted for his own haplessness, an antique teapot collection, and a sinister conspiracy.

Production

Secrets of a Wallaby Boy was written in 2021, with a storyline inspired by 1970s British sex comedies such as Confessions of a Window Cleaner. Production took place in Manchester and Salford in 2022. [2]

Release

Secrets of a Wallaby Boy premiered in the UK on 28 April 2023 at the Unrestricted View Film Festival in London,[3] where it came second place for the Best UK Feature Film and Best Actor awards.[4]

It was released digitally via Bohemia Media. QueerGuru reviewer Ris Fatah described it as "refreshingly different, light-hearted, unpredictable" and with "more than enough laugh out funny moments"[5], while Cath Clarke of The Guardian described it as "cheap and pretty charmless" and said it "lacks some basic intelligence".[6].
