Manuel Yap
Manuel Porcia Yap (* 17. Juni 1900 in Carcar, Cebu; † 16. Oktober 1966) war ein philippinischer römisch-katholischer Geistlicher, der von 1951 bis 1952 Bischof von Capiz sowie zwischen 1952 und 1966 Bischof von Bacolod war.
Leben
[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]Manuel Porcia Yap empfing am 21. September 1929 seine Priesterweihe und wurde am 13. Februar 1951 zum ersten Bischof von Capiz ernannt. Er empfing am 1. Mai 1951 durch den Nuntius auf den Philippinen Egidio Vagnozzi[1] und dessen Mitkonsekratoren James Thomas Gibbons Hayes SJ, Bischof von Cagayan de Oro,[2] und Manuel Mascariñas y Morgia, Bischof von Palo,[3] seine Bischofsweihe. Er wurde am 29. Mai 1951 als Bischof von Capiz inthronisiert und bekleidete dieses Amt bis zum 5. März 1952, woraufhin Antonio Floro Frondosa[4] zum neuen Bischof von Capiz ernannt wurde.

Yap wiederum wurde am 5. März 1952 zum Bischof von Bacolod ernannt, wo er die Nachfolge des am 22. September 1951 verstorbenen Bischofs Casimiro Lladoc[5] antrat. Er bekleidete das Amt bis zu seinem Tode am 16. Oktober 1966, woraufhin Antonio Yapsutco Fortich[6] neuer Bischof von Bacolod wurde.
Als Bischof spendete er die Priesterweihen an Vicente Salgado y Garrucho (1961)[7] sowie an Ernesto Antolin Salgado (1961).[8] Er wirkte darüber hinaus als Mitkonsekrator an den Bischofsweihen von Antonio Floro Frondosa (1952),[9] Flaviano Barrechea Ariola (1952),[10] Clovis Joseph Thibauld, PME (1955),[11] Teofilo Camomot Bastida (1955),[12] Gregorio Espiga e Infante, OAR (1955)[13] und Epifanio Surban Belmonte (1955)[14] mit.
