Summary

Description Dr. Anthony Fauci, Centers for Disease Control Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Food and Drug Administration Acting Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock, and Health and Human Services Department Preparedness and Response Assistant Secretary Dawn O'Connell appeared before the Senate Health Committee to testify on the federal response to new COVID-19 variants. The witnesses answered questions on a variety of topics, including testing availability, CDC guidelines, vaccines and boosters, and keeping children in school. During a heated exchange, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) referred to Dr. Fauci as a "government official" representing science, while Dr. Fauci said that the senator "keeps distorting the truth."
