F.E.Baker produced this unusual 170cc engine in 1913 under their 'Precision' trademark. This image is taken from the description of the engine in The Motor Cycle from November 1913.[1] The two unusual characteristics for the time are the unit construction, with engine and gearbox combined, and the horizontal valves operated by levers.
Known as the Precision Junior it was used by several motorcycle manufacturers during 1914, but at the end of 1914 it was redesigned with side-valves at the rear of the cylinder and the bore increased to 65mm giving it 199cc capacity.
