Transcend is an American software company that develops privacy and data-governance infrastructure for enterprises. The company’s technology automates consumer data-rights requests, consent management, and privacy compliance workflows across business systems.[1] Transcend is headquartered in San Francisco, California.[2]

History

[edit]

Transcend was founded in 2017 by Harvard graduates Ben Brook and Mike Farrell to simplify how companies manage user data and privacy requests.[2] In 2019, the company raised a US $3.95 million seed round led by Accel to build a privacy-automation platform that could help businesses comply with laws such as the GDPR.[2]

In 2020, Transcend announced its Series A financing led by Index Ventures with participation from Accel.[3]

In May 2024, the company raised a US $40 million Series B round led by StepStone Group, bringing total funding to about US $90 million.[1] Investors include Accel and Index Ventures.[3]

Products and technology

[edit]

Transcend’s platform integrates with business systems to automate privacy tasks such as honoring data deletion, access, and opt-out requests, maintaining consent and preference records, and generating compliance proofs.[1]

A 2023 feature in Ad Age described Transcend’s creative campaign warning advertisers about the misuse of AI and data privacy risks.[4]

Leadership

[edit]

The company’s chief executive officer is co-founder Ben Brook, and its chief technology officer is co-founder Mike Farrell. In February 2024, Transcend appointed privacy expert Ron De Jesus as its first Field Chief Privacy Officer to serve as a public-facing advisor on privacy technology.[5][6] In October 2024, Transcend announced the appointment of Luke Arno as Chief Revenue Officer, responsible for leading the company’s global revenue operations.[7]

Recognition

[edit]

In 2024, Transcend was included in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™, an annual ranking of the fastest-growing technology companies in North America, and was also named to Fast Company’s list of Most Innovative Companies in the enterprise category.[8][9]

Co-founders Ben Brook and Mike Farrell were named to the 2021 Forbes 30 Under 30 – Enterprise Technology list.[10]
