Divine Mercy Catholic School is a publicly funded elementary school, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It first opened its doors on January 6, 2025, and is part of the Toronto Catholic District School Board[1]. Divine Mercy is the feeder school of Brebeuf College School and St. Joseph's Morrow Park Catholic Secondary School.
Construction
[edit]Divine Mercy was established through the merging of St. Matthias Catholic School and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School. The Ministry of Education approved the funding for the school on May 13, 2018, and Snyder Architects was chosen as the designer[2]. The school was going to be built on the same land as St. Matthias Catholic School. As a result of this, starting September 2021, the students of St. Matthias Catholic School were temporally relocated to Holy Redeemer while Divine Mercy was being built[3].

During the planning stages of Divine Mercy, additional funding was needed, and a request to the Ministry of Education (Ontario) was needed to proceed[4]. Construction began in January 2023[5], a year later than the anticipated start, early 2022. By September 2023, the structure and ground floor concrete walls were 90% complete[6]. The overall construction reached 65% in June 2024[7], and exterior work started September 2024. St. Matthias and Our Lady of Guadalupe moved into Divine Mercy on January 6, 2025, 2 and a half years later than originally expected.
Since Divine Mercy opened in January 2025, there are no EQAO results for the school, however the results for both St. Matthias CS and Our Lady of Guadalupe CS are presented below (Grade 6).
