Spellbound (Paula-Abdul-Album)
Vorlage:Album infobox Spellbound is the name of the 1991 pop album released by Paula Abdul. The album was an international success and spawned major radio hits with the singles "Rush, Rush," "The Promise of a New Day," "Blowing Kisses in the Wind," "Vibeology," and "Will You Marry Me?"
Music videos were produced for each of the singles, and all received heavy airplay on MTV. "Rush, Rush," featuring Keanu Reeves — at that time a superstar — paid homage to the classic film "Rebel Without A Cause." Choreography for the ballad "Blowing Kisses in the Wind" included mid-air ballet. "Will You Marry Me?" featured several images of Paula singing a marriage proposal.
A mini-controversy erupted when the directors for the "Promise of a New Day" video chose to use an effect that stretched the picture lengthwise. Non-Paula fans decided this was an attempt to make Abdul appear thinner. The drama continued later that year when Abdul appeared on the MTV Video Music Awards. She wore a one-piece boustier outfit which purportedly made her look egg-shaped. It was due to a poorly-placed microphone pack, but that didn't stop morning radio shows from blasting her the next day. Abdul had actually lost weight during this time and she later revealed she had been suffering from an eating disorder for many years.
