"Don't Stop the Music" is a song by Barbadian singer Rihanna from her third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007). The song was originally intended to be the third main U.S. single from Good Girl Gone Bad, but instead the song was earmarked only for dance club play and dance radio outlets in the U.S. "Hate That I Love You" was decided to replace the song as the third main single from Good Girl Gone Bad,[1] while "Don't Stop the Music" was released in some European countries as the third single. However, many mainstream stations including New York's Z100 suddenly started rotating the track in early November 2007, meaning it might be the fourth single in the United States. The track also did something rare on Z100 by debuting on it's "Interactive 9@9" at #1. [2] It has not been released in the UK despite the release date being announced as October 29 and later as November 5.

Song information

The song samples the famous Makossa chant 'ma ma se, ma ma sa, ma ma coo sa' from Michael Jackson's 1983 single "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'".

Music video

The music video for "Don't Stop the Music", directed by Taj and Rihanna, was premiered on BET's 106 & Park on July 20 2007.[3] The video was filmed the day after the "Shut Up and Drive" video in Prague, and she used hair extensions to make her hair longer than in the music videos of "Umbrella" and "Shut Up and Drive".

The video opens with Rihanna and two of her friends coming out of a taxi, and they walk into a candy store telling a boy to be quiet. They sneak into the back of the candy store where there is a disco going on. The verse begins with Rihanna singing in the bathroom while checking herself out and putting on makeup. After this she walks out of the bathroom and walks into the club where everyone is dancing, and the chorus begins. The second verse just shows Rihanna singing on a table in the club, singing around her friends and her dancing in the club. The video ends with Rihanna dancing, singing and on a table.
