Vital Remains zeichnen sich durch deftigen, schnell gespielten, aber dennoch sehr virtuosen Deathmetal mit Ohrwurmcharakter aus.
Nicht zuletzt die tiefen, kraftvollen aber dennoch melodisch kanalisierten Growls des Fronters Glen Benton haben
eine zuweilen Respekt einflößende Wirkung auf die, für diese Art von Musik, offenen Zuhörer.
Die Texte (Lyrics) haben durchwegs antichristliche Inhalte, für die allerdings nicht, wie man vermuten könnte Glen Benton, sondern Dave Suzuki verantwortlich ist.
