"Break It Off" is a song written by Barbados/Reggae singer Rihanna and Sean Paul. The song is the fourth single from her sophomore platinum album A Girl Like Me. It has managed to peak at number 45 on the Hot 100 based on airplay alone. The song was also performed during the Rockin' New Years Eve '07 television special on January 1, 2007 at Times Square in New York City. Rihanna has previously stated that she is very proud of the song. Break It Off was released as a digital download on online stores including iTunes on February 19th, 2007. The single stormed up the iTunes Top 100 immediately after it was released. The single is currently at it's peak (#2) on the iTunes Top 100 and as a result of this jump is expected to leap into the top 10 pier in this weeks Billboard Hot 100. The debut at #8 on the Hot Digital Songs chart selling 75,316 downloads. Break It Off is featured on Now That's What I Call Music! 24 (U.S. series).
Music Video
Although a video for the song was expected to premiere sometime in December 2006, a Def Jam source reported that the video will premiere the week of Feb 25, 2007 on MTV's Total Request Live.
