Howqua River

The Howqua River is a river in south-eastern Australia. It originates on the slopes of Mount Howitt before flowing through the Alpine National Park in Victoria and emptying into Lake Eildon on the Goulburn River, itself a tributary of the Murray River which drains into the ocean in South Australia.
Cultural references
The character of Billy Slim in Nevil Shute's novel The Far Country was based on Fred Fry, a notable fly fisherman who constructed several huts along the Howqua river and eked out a quiet existence in the river valley.
