Anna Margaret is a 13-year-old American singer. She made her singing debut in the 2010 Disney Channel Original Movie, Starstruck, singing the songs "Something About The Sunshine" and "New Boyfriend" for the movie soundtrack.
Personal life
Anna Margaret was born in Lecompte, Louisiana. Her family consists of her mother, Amy Collins, her father, her eleven-year-old sister, Ellie, and her brother, Grant, who is eight. Ever since she was six years old, she performed at talent shows and took vocal lessons. Her family had to relocate several times so that she could audition for acting agencies, hoping she would land a part that would include singing. The places they have moved to include New Orleans, Dallas, Texas, and Los Angeles, where she currently lives.
Margaret had to give up competitive team gymnastics as a child, so that she could continue pursuing her musical career. She also transferred from attending public school to being home-schooled. Besides performing, her interests include surfing, basketball, and horseback riding.
Music and career
"Something About the Sunshine," which Margaret sang with Sterling Knight, was ranked #81 on the Billboard Hot 100. She starred in the official music video for this song, which features clips from the movie Starstruck. "Something About the Sunshine" and "New Boyfriend" are being played on Radio Disney. She also sang the song "Let it Snow" for the Disney album, "All Wrapped Up." She is the youngest recording artist to be signed directly with the Hollywood Records label. The release date for her new album is in the summer of 2010.
Margaret has met many people in the music industry. Her current manager is Dalevertis Hurd. She sang for Gregory Curtis (Yolanda Adam's manager), plus many other agents, vocal coaches, and producers. Some of these professionals compare her to other artists such as Christina Aguilara, but Margaret herself said in an interview that one of her role models is Britney Spears because they were both raised in Louisiana.
Other achievements
Margaret was in the McDonald's commercial, "An Excellent Source of Happiness" when she was younger. She is a spokesperson for American Girl and is also involved with an American Girl Fashion Show, to support the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She has done multiple print jobs. As far as her current career, she plans on acting in Disney Channel shows and movies.
Around age six or seven, she participated in a USA National Youth Tri-athalon, where she trekked along Lake Ponchatrain. Right as she finished, it was announced that Hurricane Katrina was headed straight for New Orleans, where the Tri-Athalon was taking place.
