Shontelligence

Shontelligence is the debut album of Bajan R&B singer Shontelle. It was released on November 18, 2008. The album was re-released due to low sales, on March 9, 2009 date. Also Rihanna being Shontelles freind, helped her with the record deal. Shontelle is from the Caribean.

Critical reception

The album has received generally mixed to negative reviews. The New York Times cited comparisons to Rihanna, and notes that after the two singles, the album "quickly goes downhill". In a feature article, The Guardian trashed the album and compared Shontelle to Rihanna, and labeled her a "wannabe hitmaker", citing "the bland lyrics" of "T-Shirt" being comparable to any R&B song. . However, The Guardian's review of the album was much more positive, citing the artist's "thoughtful songwriting and an understated vocal presence," and comparing her to Ne-Yo.
