William H. Dieterich
William Henry Dieterich was a United States Senator and congressman from the State of Illinois; He was born near Cooperstown, Illinois on March 31, 1876. He was a Democrat.
Dieterich was admitted to the bar in 1901 and began to practice in Rushville, Illinois. During the Spanish-American War, he served as a corporal. Upon his return to civilian life, he became the city attorney for Rushville as well as being a county judge. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1931 and served a single term. In 1933, he was elected to the U.S. Senate, where he served one term. He did not run for re-election, instead returning to his law practice. He died in Springfield during a business trip on October 12, 1940.
