Der politische Bezirk Oberwart liegt im Süden des österreichischen Bundeslandes Burgenland.
Bezirksvorort des Bezirkes Oberwart ist die Stadt Oberwart. In der Region wechseln sich evangelische und katholische Siedlungsgebiete ab. Neben der deutschsprachigen Bevölkerung gibt es auch eine ungarischsprachige Minderheit sowie Burgenland-Kroaten und Roma.
Vor dem Beitritt des Burgenlands zu Österreich (1921) gehörte der Bezirk zum ungarischen Komitat Eisenburg.
