McFlurry
A McFlurry is a type of ice cream sold by McDonald's, developed and first sold in Canada. McFlurry debuted in late 1997.
Preparation
McFlurry consists of whipped, vanilla-flavoured ice cream in a cup. A specially designed spoon with a hole in the handle is attached to a blender. Sprinkles and different types of candy are added to the cup which is then blended using the spoon. The spoon is removed from the blender with the cup and sold to the customer with the cup and a clear plastic lid.
The ice cream in a McFlurry is the same ice cream used for cones and milkshakes. Flavours vary from market to market, and new flavours are introduced regularly. In Canada, McFlurries are sold in Oreo, Smarties, and Strawberry Shortcake varieties. In the United States, M&Ms are used in place of Smarties.
In the United Kingdom, there are Smarties, Crunchie pieces & Dairy Milk pieces. At Easter, a Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry is sold, which is chocolate pieces with yellow fondant icing. In France, there are M&Ms, Daim, and Crunch Almond varieties.
