Textvariante
Origen was one of the first who remarked differences between manuscripts of the New Testament and declared his preferences among variant readings. In Matt. 27:16-17 he favored "Barabbas" against "Jesus Barabbas". In John 1:28 he preferred "Bethabara" instead of "Bethany" as the place of John's baptizing. "Gergeza" rather than "Geraza" or "Gadara".
