Thailand Provincial League
Vorlage:Infobox sports league Pro League is the first profession Football league in Thailand. It was found in 1999 under the name "Provincial League" The name has changed to "Professional League" and "Pro League" in 2004. The Pro League is organized by Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) and Ministry of Tourism and Sports. In 2007 Pro League was merged into Thai League.
The Pro League is presently contested by sixteen clubs each season. There is also a lower league called Pro2 League which is the competitions of 60 clubs around the country and the top 10 clubs compete in the tournament format.
The idea of Pro League came from two reasons introducing the full professional football players and supporting the regional football clubs. Before the Pro League, many clubs in the Thailand Premier League, another top national league, came from the government authorities, militaries, and amateur clubs from big private companies. All of those clubs also located in the Bangkok and regional clubs are not supported from the government. Then the Sports Authority of Thailand purpose a new league which includes teams from different provinces of Thailand. Now in 2007 season Pro League has been combine to be part of Thailand Premier League so only Pro League tier 2 will be play this season as normal.
