International Speedway Corporation
International Speedway Corporation (NYSE: ISCA) is a corporation whose primary business is the ownership and management of NASCAR race tracks.
The corporation owns California Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Daytona International Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Kansas Speedway, Martinsville Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway, Richmond International Raceway, Talladega Superspeedway, and the Watkins Glen International road course. It also owned a minority interest in Chicagoland Speedway. Together these tracks hold slightly less than two-thirds of the events on the NASCAR Nextel Cup series. It is currently exploring development of tracks in Washington state and in or near New York, New York.
The corporation also owns the Motor Racing Network, a radio network that carries events from its tracks, and a food service business related to concessions at its tracks.
About 55% of the stock in ISC is owned by the heirs of NASCAR founder William H.G. France and the remainder trades on the stock market.
Many people confuse NASCAR with ISC, but this is not correct. NASCAR is the private property of the France family seperatly from ISC. --SamC 13:47, 5 Dec 2004 (UTC)
