Makoto Shinkai

Makoto Shinkai is the director, animator, and principle voice actor of two popular anime.

His first piece was Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko (She and Her Cat), a five minute long short which won several awards and alowed him to work on a longer animation. The short details the life of a cat, entirely from the cat's perspective, as it passes time with its owner, a young woman.

After recieving a grant from a large animation company, he went on to make the 30 minute piece Hoshi_no_koe (Voices of a Distant Star). This OAV told the story of two lovers separated by space and time, and is considered to be one of the most powerful tellings of this common theme to date.

Makoto Shinkai is now working with a studio on a full length movie.
