Firefox extension: linkification

Hi, is it possible to add a feature which is similar to the Linkification extension? In talk-pages, users quite often refer to articles without creating a link. It would be very convenient if one could jump to the article by just selecting the text and clicking a button. RonaldW 19:22, 28. Nov 2004 (CET)

Wikipedia extension

Hello, and thank you for making this useful extension. I have an idea to make it many times as good. Why don't you make it possible to use it on other mediawiki pages than wikipedia? I myself have started to make a wiki page, and a tool like this would make the process of creating the content even smoother, since it's the same code as wikipedia this can't be that hard to do, right? I couldn't find any way to see the source, if i could, I would try to do it myself.

I hope you will consider this.

I second the opinion. Very nice extension indeed. One minor bug I've found: If you mouseover something on the toolbar (like the A for formatting), then open the drop list under another tool (like the templates list), all of the list elements will have 'Formatting' as thier tooltip. Toolbargröße + Formatierungen

Hallo Bananeweizen, erstmal Danke für dieses Feature. Sehr nützlich. v0.5.2 funktioniert bei mir (FF 1.0/en, XP/de) ganz prächtig! Etwas störend ist die sehr lange Toolbar wg. der Beschriftungen. Die Icons sprechen ja für sich und nach einer Weile weiss man eigentlich auch was die bedeuten. Ich habe (auf dem Laptop) in den Firefox Einstellungen die Beschriftungen abgeschaltet. Wäre gut wenn das auch deine Extension berücksichtigen würde oder eine eigene Option hierfür bereitstellen würde. Die Funktionen der "External Link" sieht man erst ab 1024er auflösung und Sonderzeichen sind trotz Vollbild kaum erreichbar. Über das Kontextmenü geht es zwar, ist aber viel Geklickere (wie schon oben bemerkt wurde).

EDIT - sehe grade in der „To-Do-Liste” dass das mit der Toolbar evtl. auf dem Plan steht :)

Wie auch schon oben gesagt wurde ist die Extension ja auch ausserhalb der Wikipedia sinnvoll. Wir arbeiten auf unserer Seite auch mit der Mediawiki Software zur Dokmentation unserer Sourcen und für Manuals. Da sind die Elemente KBD, VAR, SAMP sehr praktisch (egal ob sie nun "deprecated" sind oder nicht), zumal sie in unserem CSS auch speziell formatiert werden. Für eine zukünftige Version wäre es nett, wenn mann diese "einfachen" HTML-Elemente konfigurierbar machen könnte. Technisch sollte ja kein riesiger Unterschied darin bestehen neben <code></code> und <pre></pre> auch <samp>, <kbd>oder andere Elemente rauszuschreiben, oder? Muß ja hier dann kein riesenaufwand betrieben werden mit Dialogen und Abfragen, das Prinzip „markierter Text in die Elemente einfassen” wäre schon sehr hilfreich und geht auch am schnellsten beim Texten.

Firefox wikipedia extension

Hello

Really congratulation for this brilliant extension (Firefox wikipedia extension)

I was only wondering if it could be customized, for other wiki grammar (phpwiki or dokuwiki)

I wanted to know if a meta detection could be possible, to adjust the context file for italic, bold to the syntax used on the current wiki.

search functionality to toolbar

add search functionality to toolbar

I have seen that you think about including this function. Can you make it so that you can switch it off? Because the default search function of FireFox/Mozilla and the Wikipedia-search plugin I see no need for it and it will take space in the toolbar. nl:gebruiker:walter 11:46, 8. Dez 2004 (CET)

Firefox Extension, Kontextmenü Reihenfolge

Tolle Extension :) IMHO wäre es aber schöner, wenn du den Eintrag im Kontextmenü an eine entsprechende Stelle setzten würdest. Meiner Meinung nach wäre der richtige platz unter delete/löschen. Da ich das bei mir schon angepasst habe, kann ich dir auch gerne die nötige Änderung nennen: wikipediaOverlay.xul, Zeile 295

SourceCode of FireFox-Tool

Hallo B.

Irgendwie komme ich nicht an den (beschriebenen) Source-Code im Firefox-Plugin heran.

Woher bekomme ich ihn also bzw. wie kann ich ihn sichten?
Ich würde ihn gerne adaptieren, um ein ähnliches Plugin für das von mir an verschiedenen Stellen betriebene MoinMoin-Wiki zu erzeugen.
Optional könnte man natürlich auch ein generalisiertes Wiki-Editor-Plugin schreiben und im Plugin angeben, welche Wikiengine man gerade bearbeiten will.

Was meinst du?

Preferences disappear

Hello, nice extension, but it's a bit too integrated ;-) Using Firefox v 1.0 on macosX, Firefox->Preferences (that's Tools->options on windows, I guess that's why you don't have the problem) doesn't open anymore the preferences dialog, it makes me go to the preferences page on Wikipedia.

Sonst ist es ein merkwürdige Arbeit, danke sehr.

HTML Option

It looks like this is probably table driven so it should be a relatively simple task to add the ability to generate HTML code instead of Wikipedia code. I use both Wiki's and PHPNuke sites and the latter likes regular HTML. Some do not have HTML editors so is would be nice not to have to generate <a href ... stuff all the time.

I would not have an either or mode but have both available.

Wikifizierer

Nettes Tool. Ich denke, es ist hochgradig nützlich, auch wenn Nachbereitungen notwendig sind.

Bugs sind natürlich auch vorhanden. So werden mehrere Absätze durcheinander gewürfelt und vorhandene Wikilinks durchbrochen á la [[Getreide]]ernte]]. Aber das ist für eine 0.0.1 sicher vertretbar.

Anregung Wikipedia Toolbar

Hallo finde die Toolbar erste Sahne.

Was ich bisher vermisst habe sind Copyright Blöcke für Grafikbeschreibungen z.B. Bild-GFDL oder siehe auch Beschreibung

Hallo...

I was wondering if you might consider adding some features to your excellent Wikipedia extension for Firefox?

I thought it would be very useful, when control-clicking a link, to be able to add custom URL-endings and then open that link. For example, when viewing wiki pages, one could control-click on a link and add "&action=edit" to go directly to that page's edit page. If this could be customized, one could add the option to directly go to the "whatlinkshere", etc.

Another idea was to allow a contextual menu to add in customizable text. For example on my own Mediawiki site, I often want to create attributions to specific authors and their wiki pages, etc. This might be used at other sites as well: e.g., ([[Shakespeare]], [[Hamlet]], p. [[ham:15|15]])

Hallo Bananeweizen, ich hab sie mir heute auch mal angeschaut, und zwar die Beta unter Mac OS X. Der von Dir genannte Bug scheint nicht mehr vorhanden zu sein, und es sieht sehr stabil und rund aus. Wikipedia Toolbar for Firefox

I have no german skills at all so I'm afraid I can't even make an attempt to signup on here and do this properly, and unfortunately, my user is over on the English site and it seems they aren't connected like that. You can however leave a note on my talk page for me to get back to you, just link it back here. Anyway, getting to the point here, I have some suggestions for things I would ~~like~~love to see in the future of this toolbar.

Ability to add pieces of text to the simple insert lists like 'Templates' and 'Paragraph'
A button/quicklist for some of the warning message ({{delete}}, {{vfd}}, {{test}} (1-4), etc.)
A button/quicklist with some of the fill-in things like for 'Vandalisim in Progress' eg:

... having the IP part being replaced by text entered into a popup dialog.

Likewise for doing revision summaries, eg:

Revert to Pre-[[USER]]([[USER_TALK]]) edit. Reason: REASON

expand generically to MediaWiki sites, possible bug with Mac Firefox prefs...

Very useful tool, thank you! However, I would like to request a feature to expand or generalize this tool to any MediaWiki site. (MediaWiki, as you must know, is the software which runs Wikipedia, Wiktionary, etc).

I run my own Wiki for personal use and while the toolbar works perfectly well in the text edit boxes, it would be nice to be able to customize and easily change the Wikipedia menu links to redirect to MY site rather than Wikipedia (e.g. Homepage, Recent Changes, etc).

Also, I have a bug in Mac OSX with Firefox 1.0 where the preferences have disappeared! It takes me to Wikipedia:Special:Preferences! yikes that is bad. I am un-installing it now.
