Wissenschaftlicher Name

Nephropidae

Die Hummerartigen (Nephropidae) sind eine Familie aus der Ordnung der Zehnfußkrebse (Decapoda). Alle Hummerartigen sind marin. Viele Arten leben in großen Tiefen. Die Tiere haben Scheren an den ersten drei Beinpaaren, sehr große am ersten Paar, und lediglich einen einzelnen Dactylus (Finger) an den letzten beiden Beinpaaren.

Fossil sind Hummerartige seit dem Oberen Jura bekannt.

Viele Arten sind von großer wirtschaftlicher Bedeutung und werden in Fallen gefangen.
