Artikel des Monats Mai

Led Zeppelin war eine englische Rockband der späten 1960er und 1970er Jahre. Die Band ist mit 300 Millionen verkauften Alben, davon alleine 100 Millionen in den USA, nicht nur eine der kommerziell erfolgreichsten Rockbands, sondern gilt auch als ein Pionier des Hard Rock und Heavy Metal. Sie verarbeiteten aber auch Einflüsse anderer musikalischer Genres, wie etwa der Folkmusik. Eines ihrer bekanntesten Lieder ist Stairway to Heaven. Weitere populäre Stücke sind Kashmir, Achilles Last Stand und Whole Lotta Love.

Die Anfänge Led Zeppelins können auf die britische Band The Yardbirds zurückgeführt werden. Jimmy Page spielte dort von 1966 an zunächst Bass, später E-Gitarre. Nachdem Jeff Beck und später auch Keith Relf und Jim McCarthy die Gruppe verlassen hatten, bauten Page und der verbliebene Bassist Chris Dreja eine neue Band um sich auf.
