Akronym

Ein Akronym (v. griech.: akros Spitze onymos Name) ist eine Abkürzung, die als eigenes Wort gesprochen wird, bei der die Buchstaben also nicht einzeln gesprochen werden. Der Begriff bezeichnet ein Kurzwort, das aus Buchstaben mehrerer Wörter oder mehrerer Wortteile entstanden ist.
