Bini (stylized as BINI) is a eight-member Filipino girl group who debuted in 2020 and consists of Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Sheena, an Jhoanna. Bini was formed by Star hunt Academy and released their pre-debut single "Da Coconut Nut" in 2020.[1][2] The group was formerly known as SHA girl trainees.

Name
The group's name was taken from the word "Binibini" which means 'young lady'. and they said that they want to depict the modern Filipina.[2]
History
2018–2019: Star Hunt Academy
In 2018, Lauren Dyogi ABS-CBN's Entertainment Production Director and the Head Director of Pinoy Big Brother thoughts to form a training camp for ages 16 to 19 years old to be able to audition on the program's upcoming projects.[3] ABS-CBN originally launched the training camp called Star Hunt Academy program in 2018, a training ground for select artists that had 250 auditionees and managed down to only 8 girls which are Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Sheena, Jhoanna. The group was trained in 2018 until 2019 with local and Korean partners.
MU Doctor and VO3E Korean music producer from Korea collaborated to transform the song 'Da Coconut Nut' into an electro-pop remake, originally composed by Filipino musician Ryan Cayabyab. They also took some of the Korean dance coaches and those are Moon Yeon Joo and Kwan Seong Chan who have worked with big groups from South Korea like Twice, BTS, Red velvet, Seventeen and they are the one who helped to make the choreography of the dance song "Da Coconut Nut" while the vocal coaches are from the Philippines, Kitchy Molina and Anna Graham, and Austrian-born dance coach Mickey Perz.[4]
2020–present: Debut
Before they debut, the group also covered some of the k-pop dances like Blackpink's How You Like That and Twice's More & Morewhich caught the attention of Filipinos and also their dance synchronization skills.[5]
The group released their pre-debut single "Da Coconut Nut" pop version which was originally composed by Ryan Cayabyab. Bini's debut stage was on noontime variety show It's showtime, performing their debut single "Da Coconut Nut". [6]
