Jazzmaster

Die Jazzmaster ist eine E-Gitarre. Sie wird seit 1958 vom US-amerikanischen Musikinstrumentenbauer Fender hergestellt. Ursprünglich als Nachfolger der Stratocaster und Topmodell der Gitarrenlinie geplant, blieb die Jazzmaster hinter den hohen Erwartungen des Firmenchefs und Erfinders Leo Fender zurück. Nach sinkenden Verkaufszahlen und Produktionseinstellung erlebt die Jazzmaster durch ihre Popularität bei Musikern des Grunge- und Alternative Rock seit den 1990ern eine Renaissance.

In den 50er Jahren entwickelte sich der Markt für elektrische Gitarren rasend schnell. Die noch junge Firma Fender, die bereits zuvor die Modelle Telecaster und Stratocaster erfolgreich auf den Markt gebracht hatte, entwickelte die Jazzmaster als Topmodell der Gitarrenlinie. Sie wurde der Öffentlichkeit 1958 auf der NAMM-Show in Anaheim, USA vorgestellt. Die Jazzmaster war aufwendig konstruiert und zielte mit ihrem warmen Klang und ihrem Namen auf den Markt der Jazzmusiker, welche bis dahin immer noch die Instrumente der Konkurrenzfirma Gibson bevorzugten.
