Jabra is a global brand specializing in intelligent audio solutions. It is owned by GN Audio, which is part of GN Group.[1] Jabra engineers, manufactures and markets wireless, true wireless and corded headphones for consumers and enterprises. Jabra Corporation was acquired by GN Audio in 2000.
History
In September 2000, Jabra Corporation was acquired by GN Audio, a division of the Danish company GN Group, the latter having been founded by C. F. Tietgen in 1869 as the Great Northern Telegraph Company.[2]
In 2006, GN Audio consolidated its Contact Center and Office headset division under the Jabra brand. This was followed by a restructuring in 2008, which established two divisions within Jabra, which would later be called Enterprise and Consumer. This restructuring facilitated a greater focus on business-to-business and consumer markets respectively.[3][4]
Jabra and GN Group
Jabra claims to create best-in-class intelligent audio solutions which provide unsurpassed calls and music experience.
The Jabra range of products are all developed and tested on-site in a state-of-the-art sound laboratory at their headquarters in Ballerup, just west of Copenhagen, Denmark. Each product is the result of hundreds of hours of research and meticulous engineering and is often the first to deliver a new type of technology or innovation.
The GN Group, which among other encompasses GN Audio and the Jabra and BlueParrrott brands, was established 150 years ago, and is today the only company in the world which produces consumer and professional headsets, as well as hearing aids.
Their products include true wireless earbuds, designed to offer the freedom to move around whilst using them; noise-cancelling headphones, designed to block out unwanted background noise; headsets (some with AI), designed to provide superior sound when making phone calls; and state-of-the-art fitness-tracking sports headphones, designed for athletes to wear whilst exercising.
Jabra firsts
Jabra has been responsible for several world firsts. These include the world’s first ultra noise-canceling microphone, the world’s first Bluetooth® headset, the world’s first professional active noise cancelation headphones certified for all leading Unified Communication platforms, and the world’s first wireless Dolby sports earbuds with integrated heart rate monitor. Jabra also developed the world’s first in-ear integrated microphone and speaker and DSP-based echo and noise cancelation technologies, and invented and patented EarGels™.
GN Group history
The GN Group was founded 150 years ago, as the Great Northern Telegraph Company. GN Group has also been responsible for several world firsts, including laying the first intercontinental telegraph connections in the 19th century, developing 2.4 GHz technology in hearing aids for direct connectivity and developing the world’s first made-for-iPhone hearing aid with direct stereo sound streaming.
