Pinocchico is an upcoming American stop motion animated musical directed by Guillermo del Toro & Mark Gustafson, based on Gris Grimly’s design from his 2002 book of the same name.

Plot

A wooden puppet comes to life in 1930’s Italy.

Production

Development

On February 17, 2011, Gris Grimly and Mark Gustafson will co-direct a stop motion animated Pinocchio movie written by Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins based by Grimley’s designs, with del Toro producing along with The Jim Henson Company and Pathe.[1] On May 17, 2012, Del Toro took over for Grimley.[2] On January 23, 2017, Patrick McHale will co-write the script with del Toro.[3] In October 2018, Netflix acquired the movie.[4]

Music

Nick Cave is producing the soundtrack.[5]

Release

Netflix revealed the film will be released in 2021.[6]
