Barbara Schober (* 1970 in Erding) ist eine Bildungspsychologin und Forscherin. Seit 2012 hält sie die Professur für Psychologische Bildungs- und Transferforschung an der Universität Wien inne und seit 2016 ist sie außerdem Dekanin der Fakultät der Psychologie. Im Jahre 2020 wurde sie zur Vize-Präsidentin der österreichischen Gesellschaft für Psychologie gewählt und sie wurde Mitglied des Österreichischen Nationalen Qualitätssicherungsrates für "Pädagogische Ausbildung".

Leben

Im Jahr 1990 begann Schober ihr Diplomstudium der Psychologie an der Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg in Deutschland, welches sie 1996 abschloss. Danach kam sie als Doktorandin in der DFG-Forschergruppe "Wissen und Handeln" am Lehrstuhl für Psychologische Diagnostik und Evaluation an die Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, wo sie 2001 promovierte. Von 2001 bis 2007 war sie auf der Universität Wien als Universitätsassistentin in der Forschungsgruppe Pädagogische Psychologie und Evaluation der Fakultät für Psychologie angestellt. 2007 folgte ihre Habilitation, woraufhin sie zur Außerordentlichen Professorin am Institut für Wirtschaftspsychologie, Bildungspsychologie und Evaluation der Fakultät für Psychologie berufen wurde.

Seit 2006 ist sie außerdem Sprecherin des Fakultätsforschungsschwerpunkts "Förderung von Lebenslangem Lernen in Bildungsinstitutionen" (gemeinsam mit Christiane Spiel) und im Jahre 2011 übernahm sie die Position als Vize-Studienprogrammleitung für die Fakultät für Psychologie an der Universität Wien. Seit 2020 ist sie Nationale Vertreterin Österreichs in der European Federation of Psychological Associations, eine Position, welche sie bereits zwischen 2014 und 2016 innehatte. Zwischen 2020 und 2021 wurde sie aufgrund ihrer Expertise im Bereich der Bildungspsychologie und Motivationsforschung in verschiedene Beratungsgremien der österreichischen Regierung berufen, um bei der Bewältigung der Folgen der COVID-19 Pandemie im Bildungssystem zu unterstützen.

Barbara Schober lebt zur Zeit zusammen mit ihrer Tochter in Wien.

Barbara Schober

Barbara Schober (born in 1970, in Erding) is a psychologist and researcher in the field of education and motivation. She is currently working as professor for educational psychology and dean for the faculty of psychology at the University of Vienna. Since 2020 she is also vice-president of the Austrian Society for Psychology and ntional representative for Austria at the European Federation of Psychological Associations.

Biography

From 1990 till 1996 Schober studied psychology at the University of Bamberg in Germany. After she finished her studies there, she started working as a PhD student in a research group connected to the chair for psychological diagnostics and evaluations at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, where she received her doctor's degree in 2001. Following her graduation, she moved to Austria in order to work as graduate assistant in the research group for pedagogical psychology and evaluation at the faculty of psychology at the University of Vienna. In 2007 she received her postdoctoral lecture qualification. In the same year she qualified as professor she was appointed full professor for Psychological Research on Education and Transfer at the Department of Applied Psychology at the University of Vienna.

Since 2006 she is also the Co-Chair of the Faculty research area “Psychology of Lifelong Learning” (together with Christiane Spiel) and in the year 2011 she took over the position as vice-head of the graduate school programme for the faculty of psychology. Between 2014 and 2016 she worked as national representative for Austria at the European Federation of Psychological Associations, a position that she took over again in 2020. Between 2020 and 2021 she was asked to join several advisory boards in order to support the Austrian government with the management of the fallout on the national edcuational system caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Barbara Schober currently lives in Vienna, together with her daughter.
